Visiting Agios Georgios (Saint George ) Monastery at the top of the hill in Buyukada Island is a must. The spectacular view towards Istanbul and Marmara sea redeems the effort. It’s about 3 km from the port. All these who love walking will enjoy ascending all the distance on foot. Elsewhere, since cars are not allowed in this picturesque island,... More

Was there during low season in the beginning of the spring. So unfortunately I couldn't take a guided tour, but I really want to know more about this church and its history. Would like to come back there

The Church is located on the top of the hill. Views of sea and surrounding are fantastic and it transmit peace, spirituality and silence. It is very nice place for contemplation and reflection. When descending we took a horse pulled chart. It was also nice experience and not very expensive.

This is a legendary church where it is believed that miracles still happen - women who cannot get pregnant have to walk up the steep hill as a pilgrimage, with one condition. Must not utter one word for as long as they go up!

There was a long road uphill, and I suggest you to park your bike (if you're riding one)n near the restaurant at the beginning of this road and then go up. The view is REALLY AWESOME and really worth to go up this road. DO NOT MISS IT.

The Church is a well preserved, working Greek church. To get there, it is a 25-30 minute walk up a very steep cobblestoned street. My wife almost killed me for dragging her up there but it was worth it. Best to take a Horse and Buggy to the "Lunapark" and hoof it from there. Bring water if it is a... More

You probably received advices to ride around the island they are mainly solid however if you'd like to climb to Aya Yorgi to enjoy the scenic view, visit the church and drink a cup of tea my advice is to ditch your bikes and hike. A semi-long steep road leads to top of the hill. It is really hard to... More

One of the best hiking trips ever, plus ancient church with various architectural aspects, best part is the view up there.

It's a small curch on top of a very steep hill, but I'd recommend it as it is a nice change of pace from the mundane things of Büyükada. Also, the restaurant is definitely worth the visit!
