Small over crowded rocky stony beach ! Also, they have an electricity problem - day we went , restaurants only had salads because they didn’t have electricity to cook!

Why would anyone go here when there are so many nicer places to visit in this beautiful island.

The beach is good, gentle entry into the water, but a lot of people and very narrow. There is "Out of the blue" hotel part and public part.

Agia Pelagia has a lovely enclosed bay with plenty of restaurants situated just steps from the beach. The sea was stunning, although it went deep very quickly so this could be dangerous for young children. The beach is a fine stone/sandy beach, but there are quite a few rocks at the waters edge. Sunbeds were chargeable but very comfortable. The beach got very busy at the weekends, but there was usually a pair of sunbeds available during the week at most times of the day in June.
The choice of restaurants and bars was brilliant, all situated along the beach front. I would go there again, but not for two weeks.

Clean beach with crystal clear water that is lovely and refreshing. We found other beaches along the north coast of Crete to be very windy but this one is in a perfectly sheltered bay with just a slight breeze.
Good shower facilities and lots of restaurants, ice cream parlors and supermarkets along the seafront too.

This a must see beach in Crete. Truely the Hollywood Greek experience with small fishing boats and a village that follows the cove. The beach is rocky so where your water shoes but the water is crystal clear and. You can snorkel or go diving. A beach chair will cost 5€ but one of the many tavernas that surround the area will serve you food and drink right on the waterfront. This is a great way to laze away an afternoon in the Mediterranean sun.

Great choice for snorkelling in Crete. Blue clear water. Multiple tavernas to choose from. The road to Agia Pelagia from the main road Heraklion - Rhetymnon is clearly marked by signs and the road is decent (August 2021).

Our hotel manager advised us not to go, he said Agia Pelagia is nice just on internet comments, in reality is not worth the drive from Heraklion at all... but we didn't listen. The road from Heraklion was harder than we thought, a BIG advice for you all - if you're using Google Maps and driving from Heraklion to Agia Pelagia DON'T take the first option to slide right from the national road because you'll end up on an unpaved goat road! Take the next exit, drive a bit more down the main road and take the next exit, it's a lot more convenient and leads you to normal road.
When we finally descended to the beach (also, GMaps show that you can drive directly to the beach but in reality the road stops at the parking), we remembered our hotel manager and his words. It's a narrow, narrow, packed place, full of kids, families, kids toys on the beach and in the water, even the rubber castle for jumping in the water, above it all. It looked like a dirty little place, nothing like on the photos. Well, on the photos it is clear that the beach is narrow, we should've looked better, but in reality it's even more obvious. On top of that, taverna tables are so close to the sunbeds and people are having lunch one meter from another man's towel and slippers... just... inappropriate, especially in Covid era with social "distance".
Don't waste your time, it's a village, nothing special village, and a village-like beach full of yelling and screaming kids packed like sardines on the beach. Go to Bali instead, it's not far away!

We visited this beach in August, so expected it to be very busy and it certainly was! It is particularly busy at the weekends due to the locals using it more.

The beach is very narrow, only allowing two rows of sunbeds along most of it, some parts only one row. Some of the sunbeds are almost in the sea! We didn't find this to be a problem, it only adds to the character of this little beach.

The beach is cleaned daily and there are plenty of bins around, there aren't any toilets on the beach but plenty of restaurants very close, so you just need to buy a drink to use their facilities. The beach has an active lifeguard and a popular diving centre as well as boat hire. 2 sunbeds with a parasol with set you back 7euros for the whole day.

We enjoyed our days on this beach and would recommend it if staying in the area.

This beach is extremely narrow - the sea took most of the sand (August 2021). Cramped with sunbeds and people. The town of Agia Pelagia is a bit dirty and really not worth your time.
