Tour the monastery if you have about 45 minutes before your tour of the castle. The special exhibit was beautiful.

If you've driven to Chiemse Lake, took the Ferry (Schifffahrt) at Prien Am Chiemse to the 1st island to visit King Ludwig II Herrenchiemsee Palace, Then it would be a pity to limit yourself just to the Palace. The island itself is beautiful and if...More

Not a place I enjoyed too much. Not very well marked. We raced through as we had 45 mins before the castle tour so we didnt get an audio guide. Lots of artwork here, but again, not my favourite pasttime. Some beautiful rooms inside- 1...More

Par of the King Ludwig II Herrenchiemsee tour. Many people bypass this and head straight for the Palace. It was where the Monks lived on the island and where Ludwig resided while the Palace was being built . Worth the time to see while on...More

My advice is to visit the monastery before the palace, otherwise you will be disappointed by it. The things I found interesting were a room were Ludwig II stayed and a very decorated room. I entered without a guided tour - im not sure if...More

Included with the Schloss herrenchiemsee ticket but barely with the walkthrough. Displays aren't really related to the monastery

I didn't go into the monastery museum but walked the grounds and was amazed at the beauty. The small chapel dates to the 15 century and was amazing inside and out.

After visiting the Palace and Museum i had high hopes but found the Monastery a let down, most of the exhibits only had German writing by them and no audio guides were available, i would have liked to read and understand more about its role...More

This monastery is worth going to - very peaceful place and a lovely building. Most of what is written is in German so that could be a put off for some. At present there is an exhibition about the end of the war and post...More
