Ein schönes Beispiel des österreichischen Barock in der Mitte der barocken Landeshauptstadt. Die lateinischen Inschriften nennen die politisch Verantwortlichen der Errichtungszeit. Als Fokus des Rathausplatzes ist die Säule ein sehenswertes Bauwerk.

Kolumny morowe są dla turystów zasadniczo elementem wystroju rynku. Same w sobie zazwyczaj nie stanowią atrakcji turystycznej. Naprawdę interesujące są jedynie dla zaawansowanych znawców tzw. małej architektury kościelnej. Jak zawsze sugeruję zdobyć wyższy stopień wtajemniczenia i spróbować "odczytać" przekaz artysty zawarty w kolumnie. Najprościej jest odnaleźć Trójcę Świętą, natomiast zawsze można porwać się na próbę rozszyfrowania postaci tu przedstawionych. Na kolumnie w St Polten akurat takich postaci nie jest dużo - cztery figury i dwie historie na plafonach. Na frontowym plafonie przedstawiono scenę Zwiastowania, a o pozostałych już nie napiszę, by nie psuć zabawy. Jakby to zadanie było za trudne, zawsze można policzyć anioły licznie zgromadzone w chmurach oplatających kolumnę.

Diese Säule ist wirklich einzigartig, man muß sich immer wieder erinnern dieses Bauwerk genauer zu betrachten

Come molte altre città austriache o appartenute al Sacro Romano Impero, Sankt Pölten presenta nella piazza centrale una colonna barocca dedicata a una figura cattolica degna di venerazione (in questo caso la Trinità ), ed eretta come ringraziamento a Dio dopo la fine delle epidemie di peste che infuriarono nel Seicento. Quella di Sankt Pölten fa una bella impressione al centro della piazza principale e le dà una certa personalità , ma non si distingue particolarmente nel "genere". Recentemente è stata affiancata, con evidente e voluto contrasto stilistico, a una colonna con ideali indicazioni stradali per le passate capitali europee della cultura (il turno di Sankt Pölten verrà nel 2024).
