An adventurous hike to the waterfall
We went the route with the butterfly garden because we didn’t realize there were two options until they wouldn’t let us on the platform that seemed a safer way to the main waterfall. We saw a total of 1 butterfly in the butterfly garden. I was not wearing the right shoes for the hike. It was over multiple rocks and lots of slippery sections. Wear water shoes with good grips. It would not be for anyone with mobility issues or really young kids. I would recommend it for anyone adventurous and relatively fit. I’m giving it 4 Stars because of the ridiculousness of the two entrances.

    Choose your entrance carefully
Pretty river with rapids, natural swimming pools and a nice waterfall. There are two entrances, the first is a little more money and includes a butterfly garden which we did not go into. However, beware, the path to the waterfall is rocks along the river and you have to be very careful. Would only recommend this route for fit and agile people with water shoes. We did not get all the way to falls as it was too dangerous. The second entrance is further up the road and has stairs down to the falls and a walkway down to the pools. There is even a small diving platform at the second pool. A much safer alternative.

Think about which entrance you take to the waterfall
The waterfall was nice and lovely water. But please please please choose your entrance wisely. We are a young couple with good physical health, but if you have more difficulty, please choose the upper entrance with the restaurant (not butterfly garden). I really think this was absurd, but in all the blogs I have read it was stated that also from the butterfly garden, the path to the waterfall was easy and short. Not anymore, after a few min, you have to cross through the river, via the rocks and stones, so through the water, and hike and climb your way up to the main pool with the waterfall. While on the other side, there is literally a walking trail, like bridge/path to the waterfall. Well if you try to enter it, there is security telling you that you can’t because you got access via the entrance with the butterfly garden and not via them. I found it ridiculous that these guys just deny access as well to people with young kids and elderly people who just thought they would visit a nice waterfall with an easy trail. For us, OK, we were fine, took it easy and slow and were minding our steps, but on the way back we saw a family and once they saw the route, they decided not to go. Which I completely understood, but then you already paid entrance. So think about your physical condition before picking the entrance. They are rude and won’t let you use the safe trail, but they will just send you climbing without thinking twice. Waterfall was really nice, we enjoyed some quiet time before the big tour groups came around 11 in the morning.

    Wonderful Oasis in the Jungle
Not far from downtown Uvita, this waterfall offers clear water and several swimming pools. We went around mid-day and even had the pool at the falls to ourselves. A must visit when in the area!

    Beautiful spot for a swim!
Excellent waterfall with a lovely restaurant at the top with great friendly service. Well worth the $4pp entry. There are a few pools, some of which have jumps too. Fantastic swimming spot and the water temperature was perfect - really refreshing on a hot day! Would certainly recommend. Just bear in mind there is a couple of people down by the bridge who kept asking everyone if they had a ticket and wouldn’t let them past the bridge if they had…think there’s two entry’s but the access with the restaurant at the very top takes you right down to the side with the waterfall.

    Great swimming hole
We went in the morning, (around 10AM) parked at the top of the hill and entered in the second entrance (based on advice here). We swam in the swimming hole but didn't feel brave enough to slide down waterfall. Was very refreshing and beautiful. When we arrived there were only about 6 folks in the pool so very nice. Families seemed to be heading up to the falls. The nice thing was the place was big enough to not feel too crowded Until the tours hit then it was a big like disneyland with folks jumping into the pool from above. We left then.. So go but just try to hit it right.

Beautiful falls but be prepared for a bit of a hike over rough stones
The waterfall is beautiful and very close to Uvita and easy to get to. People with physical limitations and older people should be aware that the path to the waterfall includes fairly steep, rough stone stairs (with railings to hold on to) and a part of the path goes through shallow water and over rough rocks to the get to the falls. The falls are lovely and it was fun to watch people slide down the rock slide. We went on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00 and it was fairly crowded. The cost was $4 per person. There are restrooms at the top and a small restaurant. It was nice to bring our dog.

    Use the upper entrance!
We visited on a warm sunny day in Uvita and enjoyed our stay. We entered through the second, upper entrance (not through the butterfly garden) and enjoyed easy access to all of the waterfalls. Afterwards, we visited the nearby Bear Garden and it was lovely.

So much fun swimming, jumping, sliding
So much fun! Sliding off the waterfall, jumping from the high platform, and swimming in the pools. We all loved this and it's close to town, not expensive and it wasn't crowded before 10am. Recommend the entrance off the main road- not the one through the "butterfly garden" because you have access to a different jumping platform. Recommend going before 10am when bigger groups show up.

This place was awesome! The owners of the restaurant where you pay and park are great. The hike is pretty short. Wear sturdy shoes for some river crossings and rocking terrain. The natural waterslide was a blast! And the smoothie they give you after included in your entrance fee was delicious! This was one our kids’ favorite activities of the trip.:)

Beautiful waterfall. I went early before opening for Photoshoot purposes but even after it rained the evening before - it wasn't difficult to get to the falls. Proper footwear and awareness of which rocks were slippery vs not faired to be most important.

there are two trails, one has butterflies and they are nice to see but this trail is very slippery and difficult to navigate. The other one has stairs and a platform to jump from and is easier for kids and those without perfect mobility or like me... the wrong shoes.

The butterfly garden was basically dead with only a few butterfly’s. The path to the waterfall was tricky and slippery, at times felt unsafe.
The waterfall was beautiful and lovely cool place to swim.
We wished we had gone to the other access point where the restaurant was as they had guides, a zip line and very well maintained walk ways and trails.

We had an “OK” experience here. There are two entrances - we took the first one with the butterfly garden. The man was very nice and showed us a sloth in a tree right by the parking lot.

We started down the trail about 200 metres and then had to walk through the river over huge rocks. I slipped and cut my knee a bit - it is not an easy walk to get to the pools! If you go this way be sure to have water shoes and be fit. No elderly people or little kids. We went to one pool - the other ones were cut off by the rude people who own the second land access. They have nice walkways but don’t allow access to the people who enter from the Butterfly Garden.

The water itself was lovely and refreshing - but the experience was not good. It seems ridiculous and petty that these two businesses can’t sort out the access and make the experience better for all visitors. I would suggest skipping the waterfall entirely. There are others nearby that offer a much better experience.
