Combine Spanish, surfing, yoga, fire dancing and scuba certification in any combination for 1-12 weeks in Cabuya, Costa Rica. Programs include accommodations, zip line canopy tours, horseback riding, waterfall hikes, bonfires and a whole lot of fun. We have just bought a wildlife rescue center and are building a new campus. We are currently accepting volunteers willing to help with construction while we renew our permits and soon we will have a wildlife volunteer program as well.

La Escuela Del Sol is a beautiful place. The school is located away from very populated areas, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and I met many great new friends. My husband and I went together and we both loved it. I learned a lot about surfing and brushed up on my fire performing skills. Make sure to bring a... More

This is the first Tripadvisor review I have ever written and have been moved to write it simply as I relied heavily on these reviews before booking a trip to La Escuela Del Sol (LEDS) and was, unfortunately, disappointed with what ended up being a very expensive and isolated experience. I attended the school in February 2016 following research into... More

Thank you so much for your review. We constantly aim to improve the experience for our guests so that it can remain the incredible experience we're known for and we will use your feedback to refine our school as much as we can. I'm glad you think I'm a nice guy, that the accommodations are lovely, that the surrounding area... More

Actual visit date: July/Aug 2010 Loved Escuela del Sol. It's obviously a school, so I went with the intent of learning to surf and speak spanish-2 of the courses they offer. You can also get certified to dive or take yoga, fire dancing. Accommodations were dorm style, clean and hot-no a/c but they did have huge fans. The very bohemian... More

My husband and I spent two weeks with LEDS: We studied Spanish together, I did daily yoga and he got his scuba diving certification. We highly recommend the courses as the instruction for everything was excellent.

The staff, the location, the programs, all of it was great. They have plans to expand into a volunteer animal rescue program. They are very forward thinking.

After reading all the wonderful reviews, I decided to come to la escula de sol (LEDS) for my first solo international trip. I was the most expensive of all the places I looked at, but the reviews were so good, how could I resist? (So after I wrote my review I realized it a little long. Skip to the last... More

Hi Jessica, I'm so glad you enjoyed your classes so much. I too think our teachers are incredible people and great at what they do. I also think it's unfortunate that you were unhappy with our transitional location (which is a beautiful house with a pool and yard in a quiet, authentically Tico neighborhood) and especially that you still feel... LOVED LA ESCUELA! Gabriel, Dennis, and Jeremy were so helpful and Wendy was a great teacher. The yoga classes were also awesome. I signed up for three weeks at the school but only ended up staying for two ONLY because I wanted to see the rest of the country. I am a skeptic with a lot of things I do,... More

Decided to do something different for travel this year and headed down to LEDS in Costa Rica for a week of Surfing and Yoga ( I have never done either). Wow! I should have come sooner! The location is great! Jeremy and his team made sure everything went super-smooth. We made friends quickly with other students and did many activities... More

We have been fire students and performers for years now and always learn a few new tricks from Eli and the other staff when we are in Montezuma. Classes are at your own pace and Eli is a great teacher. Thanks guys!

Hi, my wife spent 4 weeks at La Escuela taking a combination of spanish, yoga and poi. I spent almost 3 weeks there too. I can't say enough about how wonderful of a job they did. The hotel is extremely convenient, take a few steps and you in the middle of the main street. The restaurants are excellent and close... More
