It is located about 6 km from bus stand in old Mahabaleshwar near another two famous temples, Panchganga and Mahabaleshwar. It was built in Pandava era. There is a Shiva Linga and beautiful statue of Sri Krishna. The Krishna river flows from below this temple. There is a Gaumukh whose water goes in a tank and then mixes with Krishna river.
It is about 600 meters from other two temples. While walking through forest road, we could not see the temple, so we decided to go back. A family coming from opposite side told us not to go back since temple is nearby. After seeing it, we were going back when the priest came and requested us to again come back since he was going to open the main gate. We were lucky to go inside where the priest recited a small prayer. I think GOD did not want us to go back without HIS darshan. It was really a divine experience. The priest also told us that the temple is built in such a way that first rays of sun falls directly on Shiva Linga every morning. There was no light inside except small diyas. The photography inside is not allowed.
The view of Krishna river and surrounding mountains from here is amazing. The temple was not in a good condition. It's high time if some resourceful persons like Ambanis or someone else come forward and restore it nicely.
Worth seeing...

I visited so many temples but visit to this temple is breathtaking. It’s a very old temple of Lod Krishna. The best part of this temple that there is no rush inside the temple you can spend good amount of time inside the temple. Opposite temple there is beautiful view of hills and lake and a waterfall.

There are shops near temple from where you can buys souvenirs. I visited this temple during rainy season but the best things that you can buy umbrellas and rain coat and footwear easily available.

There are nice restaurants near nearby where you can have post temple visit.

Mahabaleshwar is famous for its view points, temples and lakes out of which this Krishnabai temple is one of major and must see temple. The reason being
1. This is the oldest heritage site and is believed to belong to Pandavas Era. which was built in Hemadpanti style
2. This is the area where you can see Krishna river starting point. The water comes out from Nandi Statue mouth which is located in front of Krishnabai temple.
3. Another reason is to visit this temple, please follow sign boards which takes you through the forest to the antique temple, providing panoramic view of the hillside.
4. Listen to the priest explaining how the first sunrays fall on the shiv ling, an effigy of the god, and energize the whole temple complex. It is stated that this is the reason no electricity exits in the temple.

Krishnabai temple is located @ 1 km away from Mahabaleshwar temple. there are three famous temples in Mahabaleshwar they are Mahabaleshwar temple, Panchaganga Mandir and Krishnabhai temple. Visit Mahabaleshwar temple first and then Panchaganga temple is nearby to the mahabaleshwar temple only so visit that temple as well, then come out and walk in the forest for half km to reach to Krishnabai temple. clear sign boards are arranged from Mahabaleshwar temple to reach this temple.

Krishnabai Temple festival at Mahabaleshwar is observed in Phalgun month and starts on Purnima Tithi. This year the festival Begin on 07th March. It is the Utsav dedicated to the Krishna River.

This temple was discovered nine years back as an archeological find. The government is building up fences and creating acess paths for the temple but as of now it has a raw path of a kilometer leading to it. The temple is beautiful and has a staggering view right outside.

This is the temple build by pandava's around 4500 years old just in few days. It has origin of 5 rivers -Krishna , Koyna, Venna, Savitri and Gayatri. 2 More rivers are also originated here, Bhagirathi and Saraswati. They are lupta(invisible) and come alive ( prakat) in 60 years and 12 years respectively.
It s must see temple and beautiful to watch, how sanatani dharm worships the elements of nature and respect each one of them.
Marvellous design, clean and well maintained temple.

A recently escalated Shiv temple close to the main temple of old Mahabaleshwar. It’s a short walk from the Mahabaleshwar temple after parking your car in the temple complex. It’s a worthwhile visit not just to visit this temple but also for the lovely views of the lake and Mahabaleshwar.

This place is said to be the Origin of River Krishna and hence considered holy. There is an idol of a cow from whose mouth the River Krishna flows out. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is ancient made in black stone. This temple had very thin crowd in the evening time when we visited.

We visited Mahabaleshwar many times but had never visited this temple, and this time we did. It's a fascinating temple close to valley and short walk from old Mahabaleshwar temple parking. It's a very old temple where you see small spring with lovely clean and cool water. The views of the valley are beautiful.

Old Mahabaleshwar is 7 km from the main town. There are five temples to see there, located within a close radius. The three main ones are Panchganga (arguably the origin point of five rivers—Krishna, Savitri, Koyna, Veena, and Gayatri), Krishna (1 km away from Panchganga, gorgeous, built in the Hemadpanti architecture style, thought to be the origin point of the river Krishna), and the Mahabaleshwar Temple (with a self-originating Shiva lingam or Jyotirlinga). Hire a guide (INR 100) for a brief history and a quick walk around. Takes less than an hour.
