If you can't go to the Galapagos this is the best way to see blue footed boobies nesting. Tour includes snorkeling. If you go May to October you might see whale's on the way.Very interesting.

I thought it was an incredible experience, everything was wonderful, from seeing whales to seeing the famous blue-footed boobies We had an arduous walk with my classmates, but it was totally worth every little tour we had from start to finish. The trip to Isla de la Plata by boat was wonderful. You could watch the whales and the pirouettes they did from afar. It was a unique experience that I would repeat again without a doubt.

Loved the island to see wildlife and beautiful views. We had an English-speaking guide which was unusual during our trip! He was employed by the park and was very well-informed. We saw blue-footed and Nazca boobys along with other birds. The frigates were only seen nesting from the boat, so I couldn't get any pictures. We saw green turtles from the boat which was amazing. The snorkeling was extremely disappointing, as all the coral was dead and only a few fish. Lots of jellyfish.

Great day trip with lots of blue footed boobies, nazca boobies, fantastic coastal scenery, and the icing on the cake, whales on the return boat ride.

It is a really nice day trip where you get very close to the birds. Go for the "long" hike. It is quite easy and takes only 1,5 hours. Price har rissen to 40$ most places. They start at 45 and then lower it to 40 everywhere.

Last month we had a very nice daytour with Aventuraslaplata! They were well organized and made sure we were the first ones to arrive at the island. The guides told us all about the species and took the time to show us around. After the island we had a nice lunch while Sea Turtles swam around the boat, and then we were able to go snorkeling near the beautiful fish and turtles! Also in the water the guides pointed out the best spots to swim. The best thing was that on the way back we spotted a couple of whales! They really did their best to see as much as possible, but still in a respectful way for the animals.

The tour was $40. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to meet our guide. We walked to the pier.

The boat ride takes about an hour 1 way. We were given banana bread as a snack and plenty of water was available.

When we arrived at the island, I was bothered by the fact that they were throwing lettuce out for turtles to get them to come by our boat. I don't feel good about any introduction of something to the marine life that is not part of their natural diet.

When our boat got to the island, we had to walk through a bit of water, about knee-deep for a short distance. They have a place in front of the main building with water so that you can wash the sand off of your feet and put on your hiking shoes. There are bathrooms available. Some of the trails were closed. We took a loop trail with stairs and uphill climbing. It's easy for fit walkers.

We saw nesting blue-footed boobies and frigate birds.

I had another concern with our guide because he did take us past a place with a clear sign telling hikers to stop.

We went to a place to snorkel (masks and snorkels were provided, fins were not) and have lunch. We were provided with 2 sandwiches either cheese or tuna. There was also fruit.

The waves were rougher on the way back. Challenging for those with motion sickness.

Take hiking shoes for the island hike Be sure to have your own water bottle. They can refill it. Take a hat/sunscreen for sun protection. For mosquito magnets, take repellant. Vegans, take your own lunch/snacks.

Booked my excursion from the hostel Alcazaba and was picked up the next morning at the hostal, we were 3. The driver made sure we were connecting with our crew on the main pier. Sylvano and Galo were our guides . The crew of the Palo Santo did a great job, they gave banana cake and bananas before the hike , a couple of sandwiches between the hike and snorkeling and more fruits after. They even carried a gallon of water on the hike in case people ran out of it. The 2hour hike is a bit strenuous but you will have great ocean views, boobies and other birds. Lots of fish during the smoking a good day on the water
