Description:

The Antrim Castle Gardens site is an absolute gem and you will find nothing...

The Antrim Castle Gardens site is an absolute gem and you will find nothing like these 400 year old gardens anywhere else. A recent £6m restoration project which received generous support from Heritage Lottery Fund has now preserved this historic site for generations to come. The Gardens are a unique living museum, with layer upon layer of design features and planting added over the centuries. Indeed, rarely is so much history preserved on one site. The many exceptional features include the ancient Motte, the Large Parterre, the Yew Tree Pond and the Pleasure Gardens.

We live locally and the Castle grounds are on our doorstep. We visit often and it is always stunning. We visited during the summer with friends on holiday from England, they were very impressed by how well the gardens are managed. We visited again in November with my brother and his 3 boys. It was great that they were able... More

My son visited the gardens with his partner a few months ago - and I enjoyed his photos. A good weather forecast for this morning got me out of bed early to take the short journey (30 minutes) from Lisburn to Antrim. I spent about an hour there in the woods, along by the river Bush, the castle remains, formal... More

Staying at Sixmilewater Caravan Park gave us ready access to these beautiful gardens. They are popular with locals and visitors alike. We used the well appointed cycle paths while others walked, jogged or used the outdoor gym equipment. No matter what your age is there is something to see or do at these gardens. Clotworthy House has a coffee shop... More

A great place to spend up to an hour or more. The castle grounds are lovely with a mixture of mature woodland and small formal gardens. The walk along the Six Mile River takes 15-20 mins to get to the marina in the shore of Lough Neagh. You'll see herons, ducks, swans and rarely the odd kingfisher. Clotworthy House next... More

Starting off by saying that the gardens were beautiful. Particularly due to the season. Well maintained too. Walkways all very clean and tidy. Excellent for photography. However we decided to drop in for a bite to eat in the coffee shop. Went down hill here, two pretty small sandwiches, a coke and a cappuccino came to more than £14. Food... More

These gardens are a joy, a mixture of formal and woodland with a number of water features, the 'Long Canals ' particularly impressing us. The cafe in Clotworthy House is well worth a visit.
