OMG What a waste. The light in the water is "emerald (smeraldo)" in 1 corner. So it would take like 3 minutes to paddle over there, take a picture, and leave. But to make it worth the trip, they paddle you around the cave (gotta) and show you rock formations. You know, this rock looks like this, and that rock looks like that, and OMG. Then they show you the nativity underwater. Probably put there so there would be something interesting to show you, besides the blue water.

But I must say, the shuttle boat ride to the hole in the wall, and back, is the best part! You are out on the sea, looking at the coast, with the wind in your hair, and the sun on your face.

We’ve had a nice visit and tour. After we left, I lost my wallet at the grotta. They all tried to call me and left a message to say that they had found my wallet. Very honest! Many thanks to Roberto Brangi and colleagues.

We went here from Amalfi via a boat. Was a tad too high in cost in my opinion, but was still fun to do.
Cave is really quiet and calm, except for the 3 boats going around and giving you some history about it. The water was SOO BLUE!!
Be aware that the boaters will ask for tips when you are done.

I didn't pay attention to the negative reviews on here and I regret doing so. The best part was the scenery on the boat trip over to and from the Grotto. When we got there we got packed into a small boat and the first thing the 'guide' said was "Don't forget to tip". The tour lasted 10 min of him singing at the top of his voice and attempting to flirt with 2 other tourists at the front. This ruined it for not only our boat but others who couldn't hear their tour guide because of this morons singing. The tour consisted of us going in a small circle which could be seen from the entrance. Inside was nothing special either, if you have been to any other caves then this was nothing in comparison. So in short, if you are at a loose end in Amalfi, do anything else bar this.

Please please go to the Emerald Grotto and enjoy a totally quirky little trip!

the grotto is gorgeous and the boatmen, who barely speak english, are so funny ....

get on the boat at the amalfi jetty and its a nice 15-20 min boat trip to the grotto ... do the tour, and a nice trip back. all in around an hour.

i think it was around 11 euros for the boat and about 5 euros for the entrance to the grotto.

all i can say is:

"Looky Looky! Eeit's a meeereacal!!"

enjoy a great experience!!

we got excited and went in to see the ' green grotto ' and i am writing this review just so others can save their time and money and not get conned like us !!!!!! they say they will take you into the cave and show you the grotto which takes about 20/30 minutes. in reality, they take you less than 100 metres into the cave in a dingy little boat, show you water which has been lit up artificially and some doll in the water which they say is baby jesus, take a u turn and have you back a the entrance in under 10 minutes. to top it all, the boatman asked us for a tip for his ' great service !!!!!!!!!!!!!! '. please please do not go here ................

This is such a ripoff. Totally cheezy and LAME after seeing the Blue Grotto in Capri (which is the REAL deal by the way - read my review on that). The water wasn't even green, and it was all artificially lit, not a natural effect caused by sunlight reflection, as in the Blue Grotto. The boatmen are super sleaze-balls. Even though it only costs 5 euro, it's still not worth the money! And don't waste your time, either......

I would give less than 1 star if possible. We payed 5euro/pers to visit a 10m square cave. It has 1 spot that is truly turquoise the rest is clear water but hard to notice as is dark inside the cave. They are aloud to play loud music in the cave which obviously will damage the stalactites and stalagmites in there. And after that they will ask for a tip just because they've put some"music"... Awful.

5 euro for a boat ride in a small cave that lasted not more than 5 minutes. The guy begging for tips from start to finish. What a total waste or money.

This is not the Blue Grotto's little brother, it's the evil cousin: a true tourist trap. Although we enjoyed the decent into the grotto, and a few blue waves.. it was literally a 2 minute boat ride with a sarcastic boatman who wouldn't even smile for his tip.
SKIP IT! :-)
