- gothgrlRhodes, Greece382 contributionsGorgeous, easy hikeApparently this hike is rated as moderate to difficult. My daughter and I, however, found it really easy. We started from a bus stop (Tsambika Monastery) and then, after a short climb to the car park and then the 300 steps to the Monastery, we got to enjoy the most amazing views over the Tsambika beach and Faliraki on the other side. The trail was almost empty, with not many people around, which we loved 😊 Rhodes island in the spring really is something else - the Nature is just waking up, there were so many beautiful poppies and other flowers/plants on the way to the monastery, also the most beautiful birds of prey up in the sky. We’d walked down to Tsambika beach after the hike to the Monastery (so empty and absolutely gorgeous) had a swim there, fed some stray cats, then took a bus back to Rhodes town for some much needed, delicious Greek food (all the tavernas around the Monastery and Tsambika beach were closed, so it’s advisable to bring water and snacks if you decide to do that hike in early spring).Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 March 2023
- Odyssey7524784 contributionsGreat viewGreat view but you have to be ready to go on by foot 300 steps. It is good to go on early morning or evening. Take some money with you that you could buy candle and put candle and make a wishVisited May 2023Written 14 May 2023
- Jan HGuildford, United Kingdom19 contributionsStunning viewsA reasònable level of fitness is required for an easy ascent but by taking the 300 steps at your own pace, almost anybody can do it. There are rest places en route, I am 70 and managed it with little problem. The views are spectacular and the monastery very special. You can go and cool off on the beautiful beach of the same name afterwards.Visited May 2023Written 6 June 2023
- Rose T4 contributionsBeautiful monastery with a lovely history and beautiful viewsOur first attempt we got a transfer to Tsambika beach expecting to be able to visit the monastery however this is not possible. So we hire a Polaris from “Elephant rent a moto” in Rhodes and returned for our second attempt. It was worth it the history and story behind the monastery is lovely and the views once you are at the top are amazing. Word of warning there is 300 step so we did it early morning and it was cool and mostly shaded going up the steps, but not as hard as I expected.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 September 2023
- Garga Roger C9 contributionsTough but inspiring hike, at least 1 hour probably 2Tough hike up from the beach but worth it....I was up and down in 70 mins and I am quite fast. The trail is shaded in places but mostly exposed so take sunblock and drink....walking poles if you have them. Not for casual stroll, a technical hike, good shoes required, trail signposted and lots of loose boulders so tread carefully. There is a water tap at the top. Beautiful icons and inspirational views from the top. A pilgrimage you'll remember.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 23 September 2023
- Ken AVinstra, Norway7 contributionsWalk from KolymbiaThis was a great experience. The views on the top are truly astounding! I walked the trail from Kolymbia. The entrance is a bit “hidden” in the end of a road in between some resorts. It is well marked on google maps for instance. So easy enough to find. The hike upwards to towards the beginning of the stairs of 300 steps was very nice. It was a great experience to glance out over Kolymbia as I got higher and higher in the terrain. At the top was the monastery which was visited by several deeply religious people when I was there, so behaving respectfully would be a good idea.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 7 October 2023

Amazing view . Definitely worth to visit ⛪️. The only thing I need to mention is that are many stairs you need to climb

Would recommend driving to the car park to save a steep walk! The walk up the steps in the morning was nice and shaded with lots of rest spots. Amazing views along the coast

Picked this out on our way back from a beach day, must admit...we did not realise the many steps and climb was so vast...but...it is well worth the effort so do not let this out you off, simply stunning views that will stay with you forever

Worth the walk. Avoid to do it in a hot day. There is a parking and Bar but the road is tricky and very steep in some places so do go by car until it is allowed only if you are expert driver. Once you leave the car there are 300 and change steps that separate you from the Monastery and from a fantastic view of the bay of Tsambika and its long beach

We went early in the morning and enjoyed a lovely walk up the 300 steps to enjoy a stunning view at the top. It was beautiful and peaceful and would recommend a visit, followed by a swim at Tsambika Beach.

Beautiful peaceful place, excellent views across the beach, mountains and across the sea. A must see but not for the faint hearted, loads of steps 300 and they are numbered (which I could have not seen lol) but worth the climb

Bonjour

definitely some rest spots, not very steep most steps are large with benches along the way. Some steeper sections but not many choose a cool day or even evening and take your time - doesn't take long to do. we went at sun down and got some great photos. My daughter wore flip flops and was fine but best to wear shoes

If you are walking from the entrance at Casa Cook Hotel absolutely not safe st all, you will find it very hard work. However, if you are driving up to the cafe and then walking the rest of the way perfectly safe, but keep hold of them. 😊

Volevo solo far presente che dalla spiaggia non ci si arriva in cima.
Al sentiero ci si arriva dall'uscita poco prima della spiaggia. Prego di fare recensioni false. Grazie

Chiedo scusa a MicheleSonia69. Ho sbagliato link.Prr Letizia L confermo che qua a Rodi ( ora) nessuno conosce percorsi fattibili direttamente dalla spiaggia. Solo dalla strada ufficiale con i 300 scalini.

This may have already been asked and answered previously, but do you have to cover your legs in the monastery like in other holy places in Rhodes? Just so I know to pack something in my bag

As with most religious sites it would be etiquette to do so, but not a lot of people do.
