- Diana DStrassen, Luxembourg43 contributionsVery disappointing! Not worth the trip out!Having taken out a long taxi ride to the Batu Ferringhi beach area we were very disappointed with the actual evening market. There were so few stalls that we had trouble figuring out where the actual market was. The few stalls that were there mostly sold beach toys and clothing. A small area was set up for some food stalls but again the variety was very disappointing. We managed to see a nice sun set on the public beach but other than that it was not worth travelling out there from Georgetown.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 February 2023
- Andrea JGoole, United Kingdom187 contributionsA great way to spend an eveningWe found the area relatively unchanged since pre Covid visits apart from the fact there are fewer stalls and certainly less people walking up and down. You can still buy virtually anything, handbags, hats, artwork and clothes. The stall owners are polite and not pushy. I was worried that our favourite evening past time of strolling up the strip in between a few drinks and food would have gone as inevitably a lot of businesses closed as a result of the pandemic but I am so glad it isn't the caseVisited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 February 2023
- samitdebSingapore, Singapore94 contributionsGood experience with a toddlerGood experience the long beach hawker centre is the highlight. Noted quite a few shops wearing colourful stuff which looked touristry but nice. Food was good - we tried char kway teo, chicken fried rice and some skewers. All were a bit above the malaysian price but it was all good. Enjpyed the stroll in thd stretch extending till starbucksVisited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 March 2023
- Alexander BAngelbachtal, Germany28 contributionsStill nice but has suffered from CovidI have visited the BF night market every year 2013-2019 and used to enjoy it. This year we found, it has suffered quite a bit from Covid. There are fewer merchandise stalls open, e.g. we saw only one stall with fake ladies' handbags. Most stalls carry cheap plastic toys and beach stuff for children and identical "Penang" bags. Our favorite hawker food court Beach Road still exists (it is renamed Cafe Ferringhi Station) with most pre-Covid stalls still there, but it is now closed on Wednesdays, probably since much fewer tourists use to eat or buy there. Sad. I hope they can recover.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 June 2023
- Steven SPattaya, Thailand737 contributionsWorth a vist at least for dinnerI read many reviews and initially I wasn't going to check it out as I was staying around a km further up the road. However, I decided to go and at least have something for dinner at Long Beach complex. Plenty of food stations with numerous choices of dishes to choose from at very good prices. There were quite a number of stalls along the road, enough to make a visit worthwhile. Though I felt most of the goods available I had already seen in Georgetown. Glad I made the effort.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten 15 August 2023

Very few stalls left. It’s not worth going unless you stay there. The food hall is quite good though.

It was raining but only a few stalls. Really wished I hadn’t made the effort!
Kuala Lumpur or Thai markets so much better. Maybe it was because it was mid week

the gold standard in Night Markets for me is in Chiang Mai. I can't help comparing to that. Yes, it's something to do and a place to roam and look in Batu Ferringhi, but it doesn't seem to have much worth interesting for shopping. There are good food and drink options (I liked the Light House right on the beach for drinks and friendly service).

From our last review in 2022, the night market has not recovered.
Don't think it will ever be.
The big crowd and the endless stalls along the batu ferringhi road are long gone. Only a few stalls with limited merchandise to sell.
The only bright spot is the new shopping structure next to Tarbush/Bora Bora restaurant.
And looks like Bora Bora is doing extremely well and expanding its outlet at this new building.
Its beginning to look like Langkawi now!

No matter what part of Asia you find yourself in one of the great things to experience is a night market. The Batu Ferringhi Night Market is a great place for clothing bargains as well as food outlets. Don't forget to bargain, its part of the fun.

Try the Sizzle Lady’s sizzling noddles and seafood. Her food stands out for sizzling hot special spiced dishes. She is an icon of the food station having served her specialty food for 10 years. It is a must try in Batu Ferringgi. I tried her fried noodles and it was so good.

From your hotel, there are two food courts within 20 min walk along the main road in the direction of the city, within 2 km. the further one is better with more choices but only open for dinner.
Along the same direction there are numerous big and small restaurants of various choices, these open for lunch and dinner.

pasar malam pada chinese new year buka atau banyak kedai yang tutup?

Ketika saya pergi pada Chinese New Year boleh tahan banyaj juga yang tutup . Waktu perniagaan pun kurang, jika selalunya 7pm hingga 12 pm tapi kemungkinan tutup awal (10-11pm). Walaubagaimanapun sebolehnya elakkan pergi menghala Batu Ferringhi ketika super peak days kerana "jam" sangat teruk. Dari Padang Kota Lama ke Ferringghi pun mengambil masa 2 jam (!!)

Hello can you walk to markets from hard rock hotel ?
Axiomwatson
Torquay, Australia372 contributions
Well it is not a long walk BUT it is quite dangerous walking along the side of the road. There are many spots where there is simply no room for both a car and a pedestrian. Be very careful, especially if you have small children. An alternative is to walk along the beach side behind the Hard Rock, coming out towards the markets at the end of the beach.
