I love to exercise but I hate to hike. Doesn't make sense, right? So, I have to get to the scenic part of a hike quickly. And this place accommodated me. The hike is pretty simple. Once you get to the top you're surrounded by...More

Okay, we just turned 60 but we work out 5 times a week, and we still had to stop periodically as the trail climbed up the mountain. For me, it was a challenge and I'm very glad I did it. The views from the top...More

$2, gets you the majestic views this mountain provides! Best $2, a family of four can spend! Parking was kind of a hassle, especially later on a weekend. It's best to come early to avoid the crowd. The hike was well worth it! My 2...More

Great hike but get there early if you go on the weekend during the good weather season. We went mid morning on a Sunday in June and the parking lot was closed and the rangers were turning people away. We went into Highlands to have...More

Took about an hour uphill the entire way up the mountain so it was a great workout but not strenuous. Saw a ton of young kids walking it so it's definitely doable. View at the top was amazing and the walk down was a nice...More

There is a car park at the bottom of the walk, which starts with a few steps and is a steady climb the the top and great views over the surrounding countryside.

This moderate loop hike is well worth the efforts. We went in June but I'm sure the fall is beautiful but much more crowded. We had trail to ourselves for the most part. The walk up is fairly easy and about half of the lower...More

The best spots near Whiteside are both approximately 3-4 miles west of Highlands off Highway 64 west, to wit: Cliffside Recreation Area and Van Hook Glade. Both have nice campsites with views of Cliffside Lake.
