Amazing falls, one of the best in NZ. The walk is a steady 2 hrs, 6km, so feels like a good walk, but most people can easily do it. Its impressive after wet weather. I would recommend going in anti clockwise as the best mountain views are at the start.

Nice gentle relatively fast walk with a few stairs and couple of sitting benches on the way. We'll kept l, clean and tidy.

Apparently this is one of the most popular of the shorter walks in Tongariro National Park. I now know why! The path is very clear and very well maintained. The loop takes 1 and a half to 2 hours and passes through varied vegetation - tussock, alpine shrub lands, beech forest. The 20m falls are about half way along the walk. There are stunning views of the surrounding landscape including Ngauruhoe, Tongariro and the narrow gorge of the Wairere Stream. There are stairs up to the top of the falls where the track intersects with the Tama Lakes Track. This is an easy, must-do walk!

This is a great little walk. We completed it more quickly than last year, which was surprising. Perhaps we are not such old fogeys after all.

The lower track is through wonder bush following streams, then back over the top with incredible views

For a short walk, this one really packs a punch! The huge diversity of scenery (mountains, forest, streams, falls) must make this one of the best effort-to-reward walks in the North Island. We were lucky enough to have a clear day, giving us views of both Mt Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe. That was before we even laid eyes on the falls! It's an easy walk on a well maintained track - about two hours of walking, but it took us closer to three with all the stops we made to enjoy the views. We took the lower track on the way there and returned via the higher track; in hindsight we would probably do it the other way round next time. There is no shade on the higher track so bring sun protection on a clear day. Overall highly recommend!

Great loop track from the Chateau to the falls. They are well hidden until the last minute. We went up the high path and back on the low path

A nice easy path to a nice waterfall. Path is clearly marked and has a toilet about half way. Took about 2 hours with very slow walkers in the rain, but that added to the fun. Starting with the upper track means less stairs which was good for us.

The falls were a great surprise and the walk was a great fill-in since our Tongariro crossing was postponed
