If you are a big fan of Lord of the ring this is exactly what you have to do in here. The beginning it's difficult but at the end you will be amazed by the view at pretty lakes with clear water!!

Amazing views, walking through clouds, magical blue and green circle shaped lakes.. 👌 I don't work out or do things like this often it was quite a challenge but definitely worth it now I can say I've done the tongariro crossing 😂 woooo!

This was harder than I expected and WAY more amazing than I expected. I'd love to do it again. The advice I have is that it's always cold at the summit, so bring some tissue for a cold-induced runny nose. :)

Definitely doable. We did this when on tour for the Lions rugby. Drove up in the evening, walked the crossing and drove back the next day

We would not recommend starting the Tongariro Alpine Crossing that late in the day. You could instead head to Whakapapa Village and visit one of the shorter walks for the afternoon (eg. Taranaki Falls, Ridge Track, Silica... More
