Cachorro is the closest beach to Vila dos Remedios, but it is one of my favorites. Go at low tide however. There is a natural pool in the rocks at the far end. Also go take a look at King (my name for him) who watches over everything.

A pretty beach to visit. However in December is not exactly good to stay on it as it is mostly covered by tiny rocks, but even so you shouldn't miss it.

Small beach, great for snorkeling, very simple access and a fresh water shower. There are rocks, so be careful when entering water.

Nice beach but very growded. Good access from the town. There is a bar where you can buy food and drinks.

Beautiful beach, kind of difficult access because you have to go down the rocks, but it is worth it. Good restaurant before you go down to the beach, with very good food and live music.

This is the beach you want to go to when you are looking for a lazy day in the sand or in the water without snorkling or surfing.

It has a great resturant area but also a little further away enough open area to settle with towels and enjoy the view. The view from the shower is among the best (beach shower views) on the island.

This beach is not as well known as Praia do Sancho or Baia dos Porcos...and maybe this is for the best! We discovered this small beach because it was the closest to our pousada, walking distance. What a good surprise! The beach is protected from waves, wonderful colors of the sea, cristal clear water, rocks on both sides to allow nice snorkeling, not over-crowded, wonderful view over morro do pico. Many local people on this family beach, 2 nice bars with tables and chairs on the sand, good food/drinks. Even an old shower on the way back to remove salt and sand! A natural pool is located on the right side of the beach, among the rocks. Heavenly place.

We had almost a week on Fernando de Noronha at the end of a 3 week trip to Brasil. We were "sold" the island by the tourist blurb which claims it is the resort for "high-healed Brasilians" and "one of the best dive sites in the world". We did not experience it as either.
We knew it was pricy compared to the rest of Brasil but had expected a higher quality of accomodation/service/amenities etc. as a result but were very disappointed. We didn't book the dearest accomodation available but nevertheless well above the average price class. Our room was not big enough to lay our open suitcases by the side of the bed - this we had to do due to no chest of drawers and only one limited open hanging area - typical of pousadas in Brasil but not what we had expected in a resort for "high-healed Brasilians". We ate out every day and couldn't find one "up market" restaurant. The places we ate were fine but not of the class the price demanded (other than that they were on Fernando). I still might not have felt that we had "wasted" our money if the diving had been at one of the "world's best sites" - but again this was a great disappointment. With diving one always "takes a chance" to a degree - I accept that. But I have dived at many places that offered much much more than Fernando, at a fraction of the cost. I researched the diving on the internet as I always do before diving at a new place and there was no mention of high sea swells causing sea sickness or dives to be cancelled. There was talk of 60 metres visibility but not of lots of small pieces of seaweed in the water reducing visibility or making photography difficult/impossible. When I asked I was told that there was never swell for more than 4 days in a row - we had swell on each of our 5 days resulting in 2 dives being cancelled and one aborted due to some divers not being able to control their buoyancy in these conditions (despite the usual assurances about diving in groups of equal ability to maximise dive times). In addition to these "ocassional" problems the underwater topography did not lend itself to the blizzards of brightly coloured fish and variety of underwater lifeI have seen in the Red Sea/Thailand/Caribbean to name a few. The largely boulder strewn bottom, covered with seaweed (no coral reefs) did not encourage this.
The beaches were "largely deserted" as the tourist blurb claimed but this came at the price of a lack of ammenities (toilets/sunbeds/cafes).
Oh, one other thing - do not expect to find English speaking people, even in resort areas - these were the exception rather than the norm.

It's a beautiful beach to have a bath when the sea is calm. The waters are clean and warm. However, the are some bars around and you can find some trash in the sand, a real shame. A wonderful spot to watch the sunset.Get relax with the atmosphere there. Feel peacefull with its giving feel.Nice..

There's much competition for the best beach on Fernando de Noronha. This was our favourite. A couple of bars on the beach - that serve great fish - provide a soundtrack for your swimming. Perhaps not so great for snorkling, but you can always jump off the roks into the little pool hidden on the right for entertainment. Could easily spend a day here.
