It closes at 5, which the locals warned me about. What they didn’t warn me about was that once it closes, even if you reach the top, which I did, you will not be able to see the pyramid at all. Not a glance. There is a large spiked fence that guards some stairs that im guessing lead you to... More

Skip Tepozteco, head for the hills towering over the ruins. Get the real views of Tepoztlan and surrounding area.

This is one of the less exciting and interesting temples you'll see in your life and, on its own, not really worth the slog up the hill. But the hike itself is nice, winding through a very steep ravine for a couple miles before popping out at the top. The views are awesome, though, and the experience is what you're... More

I did this hike with family on a recent day trip to Tepoztlán. It took us an hour to reach the pyramid (from the start of the trail), then we spent about 30 to 45 mins taking in the views and relaxing. The pyramid is quite small but stunning nonetheless. Then it took us another 45 mins to get back... More

I visited Tepoztlán & the pyramid Tepozteco on a day trip from Mexico with two friends in early March. If you are getting a taxi to the bus station from your Mexico City hotel make sure you are very clear about which bus station you need to go to. Our concierge arranged our taxi & they took us to the... More

As all the other reviews say, it's very challenging steep climb for about 45min to 1 1/2 hour depends on your fitness level. It's more like a natural stair master than hiking. You should bring a bottle of water and start hiking early at 9am when they open. There is $43 fee to see temple. the temple opens at 11.... More

It's a good idea to start early to beat the heat. We didn't realize that the pyramid opened at 9 so we ended up waiting at the top, but we ran into quite a few locals out for their morning exercise. Everyone was happy to greet us and one man walked the second half with us. He was glad to... More

We climbed up to Tepozteco this morning and are currently sitting having a few drinks. Beverages are very necessary after returning from the site. It's up to an hour hike pretty much straight uphill depending on how many stops you take. Well worth the hike though as the views are spectacular back down towards the town and Cuernavaca in the... Tepozteco is always the highlight of my trip to Tepoztlan! It is quite a hike to the top but somehow I always come back down feeling energized. Tepoztlan is truly a magical pueblo!
