Very attractive house and courtyard containing artefacts revealing information of plantation life, includes some interesting unrelated displays of cameras and optometrist equipment, more interesting than it sounds. Stayed for the buffet lunch, very tasty selection of local cuisine. Worth a visit.

One of the oldest plantation houses on the island with memorabilia dating back to 1700s. The house/museum is crammed with mahogany furniture, art, china and antiques. Staff friendly and welcoming, I was hoping for more of an insight into plantation life. The entrance fee is...More

Our family came here as a stop on a bus tour of the island. Our kids are 10&13 years old (old enough to be careful and not touch things - with a few stern warnings). I would think twice before bringing small children here with...More

We went as part of a Farewell to Barbados tour from a cruise. The house is quite interesting and is part of the National Trust of Barbados. The tour was sold as including a light lunch but we were served a very average afternoon tea

Today Sunbury is a heritage site, restored to its former splendour. An interesting journey into the past. 12 steeps lead up to the the front entrance. The front garden has lost some of its charm. The coach / car park has not helped, although necessary...More

Beautiful plantation house. Stunning interior. Really no information on the slavery which made these plantations so prosperous. It was still extremely interesting. The lunch provided was very tasty indeed. One of the best tours we experienced.

This is our second visit to Barbados to visit friends, and I wanted to take a few days to view many of the old Plantation houses to understand the lifestyle of the people over the centuries. This house is truly one of the oldest plantations...More

We only went there for lunch as we have been there previously. The lunch was a buffet with great Bajan food. They are set up for crowds as they do have tour buses pretty often. There was only the 2 of us and we were...More

As part of a cruise (P & O) tour this was the best place we visited, It gave an indication of how the 'better off' lived in past times. Although the furnishings did not relate to the origins of the house they were well chosen...More

You do get to look back in time in this house but its a bit one sided there is no mention or anything to see in relation to the slaves who worked on the plantation. Your tour assembles in the dining room & a guide...More

Hi Howiebuoy, As previously stated the house was well below par. I did not know what to expect but I for sure know when there is a 'white elephant' in the room. The house is not shown to a good or great standard. It is All... More
