Inside the council office you can find a clear and most interesting history of Robert Owen-his times and ideology. A 20 minute film is also available. Lots of photos and clear labelling.

Fascinating small museum that really makes you think. One of the socially enlightened intellectuals who really tried to put theory into practice and influenced todays society. Should be good for all ages, we spent about an hour or so, free but recommend a small donation...More

We didnt know much about Robert Owen. The display with artefacts and stories of his life really made an impression. The museum isnt large, but well worth visiting.

A wonderful insight into a man with whom we could do now! A reformer and a doer. A simple exhibition telling his story well. Well worth the visit.

Robert Owen is a hero of 19th century social progress, and the town's museum does him full justice. Go along.

Travelled half a day just to visit the museum and was not disappointed.A traditional well laid out concise museum packed with information boards and artifacts. We were not aware how his initiatives failed in his lifetime before his legacy was successful. Free to visit however,...More

An old fashioned but interesting museum. Even better is the Newtown Textile Museum on Commercial Street, a five minute walk away. Housed in a rare old factory--two floors of weavers cottages topped by two floors for for spinning and weaving--celebrates Newtown's heyday in the 19th...More
