Certainly a cute village tumbling down the hillside. Lots of stairs if you like them but in reality not a lot that's unusual if you've spent time in this part of the world. If you're time is limited I wouldn't put in top of your 'to-do' list, but if you do make sure you don't drive past it. In effect there's nothing to see from the road. You need to find the carparks at the top and walk down.

A long haul from Lugano through traffic that crawled for a long time probably impacted this review. The town itself is not particularly unique. The hugging of the lake is similar to many other towns and I'm not sure that I would recommend someone staying at Lugano to expel the effort to get here.

Hidden gem just outside of Lugano. Tiny little fishing village with little swimming spots along the water front. I took the ferry to Gandria and walked back. Beautiful walk along the Olive Trail.

a cute little place on the lake, steep cobblestone ways to walk, a boat stop, some restaurants... and lots of tourists for visit. but yes, it is worth it. there is also a direct bus from Lugano and a walkway along the lake to get here and/or back.

It’s so picturesque and charming that one does not understand why it isn’t more touristy, why it’s not packed with souvenir boutiques and selfie sticks vendors... one might wonder, but not regret it! Enjoy this gem while it lasts, as long as it is still a little village close to Lugano with shaded little alleys and a couple of wooden decks on the lake from where you can take a refreshing dive. No need to pay the entrance to no lido, no fancy sun beds... just true, authentic lake life!!! All restaurants here are good, seriously! There is no tourist trap cafè. People working here seem to love what they’re doing and the quality is there to prove it.
You can not visit Lugano without taking a walk, a boat or a bus out to Gandria. Do NOT take the car here though. It is off limits for cars and trying to find a parking will just ruin the experience. Go with your feet, or rent a Standup paddle. Anyway, go.

Very picturesque and small place. Great for lake views and narrow streets, and gorgeous walk along the water on olive trail.
Has a couple of great restaurants with a view of the lake.
Doesnt have a typical "center" with shops, coffee, etc... As a matter of fact I didnt see any shops at all.
cant drive. park at the top of the village at metered parking and walk down.

Arrived by Lugano ferry after reading an ad about this quaint fishing village. Quaint is correct in describing this quiet sleepy picturesque village with narrow streets. Plenty of restaurants to pick from if food is required.

Gandria is one of the most unforgettable places you can imagine - but it reveals its charms only grudgingly. There is little sense of welcome to the day tripper, and if you want to go swimming or get a ferry, well you’re on your own! Persevere and start early-ish, giving time for mid morning coffee/beer at one of the restaurants. If you’re pushed for time, take a quick dip at the secret swimming area just after the cemetery (towards the border). If you’ve more time, there’s a lido on the footpath en route back to Lugano, but we didn’t make it that far on our visit.

This little town is well worth 1-2 hours of your time! There's just incredible views at every corner and even in June (?busy period) I felt like I had the sleepy village to myself. Catch the boat here or walk around from Lugano. Just amazing.

A morning trip to this delightful sleepy little village with a backdrop of snow covered mountains and little alleyways. Very limited parking (get a ticket) or face a fine !
Leave your car at the top in the small car park and walk down to see see breathtaking views of the lake and mountains, you’ll need to book a table for lunch, we were unlucky but got a coffee. Definitely a must do if you are in the area.
