Entering through the Santa María door you access the main street that gives access to the historic center. Cobbled pavement with typical stately stone houses, you have to go up a little to the square that shows the historic center, but it has its reward. Beautiful views of the bay, old buildings and houses, unbeatable walk. Following the same street and leaving the town, we will reach a more commercial area: restaurants, shops and bars, mixed with the old colorful fishermen's houses. A delight to the eye. Of course, you will never be alone, full of tourists.

This is the street that will take you through the gate and into the old town. Once inside the gate you will find the cathedral and a collection of beautiful old mansions. This was the heart of the prosperous old town and a street that you should definitely include on your walking tour.

We'd been to Hondarribia once before, years ago just for a meal in the "modern" part. Decided to make one last overnight stop in Spain before the long drive to Normandy. Very taken with the whole Medieval area. Splendid buildings. We stayed at an excellent Pension right by the town walls. A must stop. Next time we'll stay longer.

Street abounds with pincho bars with a nice , lively crowd. We came here for pinchos and wine and never ate dinner. One place after another.

The old part of Hondarribia within the walls has many fantastic monumante and cobbled streets you can see the Town Hall, the church and the library and walk all the way up the Calle Mayoy until you fome to Plaza de Armas with the Parador and a lovely view of the sea! Just opposite the Paradir you will find the Tourist Information Office and next to it a shop selling the local delicatessen well worth the visit!

After working your way past all the unsightliness surrounding the airport, you will find a delightful and welcoming mix of Basque food and sights in Hondarribia. The medieval high town is a beautiful exemplar of defensive architecture and the pedestrian streets below are a pleasure to explore, while the harbor offers its views and charms. The corniche road to St. Jean is the best way in and out.

If you are visiting San Sebastian you owe it to yourself to take the short bus trip (half and hour or so) to the outlying suburb or Hondarribia to stroll the beautiful medieval streets of the City. The ancient and restored area of the Hondarribia is located in the centre of the City. It is a fairly large area but not so big that you can't navigate most of the streets in less than two hours.
Well worth the effort. As you walk along the narrow streets you can see some very old and impressive buildings with their elaborate adornments, crests and woodwork. The City has done an excellent job of ensuring that all renovations and reconstruction projects do not impact the visual images of the outsides of the ancient buildings. A must do if you are in the San Sebastian region

Although Calle San Pedro is an old, traditional street, it is now the undoubted heart of the holiday part of town. This is where you will find most of the tapas bars and the atmosphere in the evening is vibrant without being remotely tacky. Most people sit at the outside tables but don’t forget that you can get a quieter atmosphere inside the bars as well.
Hondarribia is a lovely town as a whole. The promenade offers a great stroll, the old town is absolutely charming, and Calle San Pedro is the beating heart.

Calle San Pedro is one of the charming old streets of Hondarribia. We pretty much walked along almost all of them and admired the medieval feel of this amazingly preserved historic town. Calle San Nicolas is also lovely and walking down all the way to the Paseo de Bidasoa is very pleasant.
