We went and were disappointed to find it is basically a wall enclosing a space and a church which was not open. Apparently in its usage period it gave shelter to the locals and their livestock but there is not much to see now.

The castle is on top of a hill, and is reached by walking up to it. But the views are worth the effort!!

Well worth the climb up. Deserted ruin that has great character and stunning views of the surrounding area. Never did find the medieval inscription but lots of pottery sherds

Unfortunately theres not much left of the castle for historians to work with; theres the outer wall and thats it. However theres a lovely little church where you would normally find the keep; rather quaint. Nevertheless, the castle wall is fully accessible and an excellent vantage point for the breathtaking scenery. Its a good resting point for 15-20 min pit... More

This castle has very interesting characteristics and could be a highlight for the village visit. As it is it hardly deserves visiting but for the view. Can somebody please look at it?

A good viewpoint for the town and surrounding countryside. Typical circular not very high battlements. Just about worth the climb. Beware walking in the long grass at the summit - got some nasty bites through thick socks from some vicious insects there.

The castle is a must-see when visiting Arraiolos. Portugal has a lot of castles (more than 200 medieval castles), and some of them are abandoned and in ruins. Arraiolos is one of those. While is not one of the best castles around, it's wonderful to imagine how things would be there several hundred years ago, and also to enjoy the... More

Steep uphill to access, lovely views over town and countryside. Fairly ruined castle. Signs adequate and in Portuguese and English.

is a normal castle. The church was closed and need a lot of work to rebuilt, mainly the castle tower. In Alentejo we have much more wonderfull castles.
