There was certainly much to see in the museum but all the information was in French and it was not until we were leaving that we discovered that English headphones were available!! The first room appeared empty until we realised that to see the displays in that room you needed to open cupboard doors!! There was an exposition on maps... More

A little gem to pass an hour touring. 3Euro entrance for the 60+. Well worth supporting. There was a travelling exhibition of sea paintings on our visit. Very interesting. 500 and 400 year old paintings in beautiful condition. Friendly staff. Closes for lunch but you can come back after your lunch at "Le Sauvage". My recommendation! But I haven't tried... More

12 May 2015. Could have stayed much longer exploring this hill-top town (Yes it is does top a hill, and the drive up is an experience). We could have stayed much longer in the museum and the staff were very helpful.

Cause I am disabled, my entrance and my companions entrance is free, and also the use of the disabled chair. We got also service from the guardians. The theme is "La Flandre et la Mer" till 12/07/2015. (http://museedeflandre.lenord.fr/fr/Accueil.aspx).

"La Flandre et la mer" was a very nice exhibition, the audio guide was good, never too long, but interesting and informative. The exhibition is not too big but nicely spread in this pretty museum. Museum staff is friendly and helpful. We had the chance to attend a dance performance (mainly for kids) which stressed the themes of the exhibition.... More

The Musée Departemental de Flandre is small and very well organised. Each year, they have a special exhibition which runs in parallel with the default collection of the house's masterpieces. This year, Erasme Quellin was the topic of the special exhibit - a fellow of Rubens, who was based most of his life in Antwerp, where he was the chief... More

We wandered in here to 'kill an hour' before we caught the ferry and were pleasantly surprised. Firstly the building itself is worth a visit and its worth taking a view from the back of the building even if you don't need the facilities. The paintings on display were Flemish religious subjects and although not my favourite period or subject... More

But then I understand it's recently had a 13 year, multimillion euro restoration so it should be good. Unusual for the region in the sense that's it's stone fronted (built by the Spanish in the 16thC?) and very attractive too. Good value (4 or 5 euro a person) and quite extensive, well air conditioned (maybe a bit cold? Good for... More
