Such a wonderful mountain range - and so untouched by modern day. We spend a week walking in the mountains, breathtaking views, wild flower meadows, wild bear..... the list goes on. Bring clothes for every occasion as it can get cool and rain can just appear from nowhere. Food a bit bland but manageable.

My husband I would like to spend a week in the rodopi mountains next September. We will have a car. We are early sixties, like to walk and like it pretty quiet. It would be ideal to find a smaller town that still has restaurants and where we can walk around town. We could use this as a base for exploring. Any suggestions about which towns to look for a house or hotel? Much appreciated!
