Passing by on our ARosa Bella river cruise. This is the oldest church in the valley region. I had no idea Austria 🇦🇹 produced so much wine.

Short Stopp for this church is nice. You can step up in the tower and have a nice view around. Entry is free.

In the middle of the Wassau valley stands this church that is one of the oldest in Europe. Quite pretty and a must stop if you are cycling the Danube

This is the oldest church in Austria with the oldest organ in Europe, in a tiny village of 17 homes that take such good care of this church as well as their farms, vineyards, and families. So glad we visited.

If you're on the Radweg, you cycle right by this lovely old church dating back to the 10th century. It's worth a quick stop to check out the ornate interior and the peaceful cemetery.

This is worth to drop by (only 5-10 mins to go up the tower), especially to those who stay along the river.

This is a particularly beautiful stretch of the Danube, I strongly recommend a tour of the Wachau Valley, by boat, car, walking or bike.

We were biking from Durnstein to Melk along the Wachau valley and stopped at this church and cemetery. We had a guide who gave us some history of the church (look in the windows) and the cemetery. The view from here is spectacular. In Germany cemeteries are made up of family "plots" so everyone gets buried in the same plot. They decorate their plots each season and it is incredibly beautiful and peaceful (even in November).

Medieval church along our bike route in a small town upriver from Weissenkirchen/Wachau. The church is composed of several different buildings and a beautifully maintained cemetery, There is a round tower along the river which watches over the church and cemetery. Inside, the painted walls show the local history. The cemetery is well cared-for with beautiful flowers. The crypt under the tower has a variety of bones--and the church is relatively simple--still in use as a parish church today. Be sure to look along the roof edge on the church for the 7 hares. They involve a local story of perhaps who made the church...hard to see that they're hares--but interesting story.Worth stopping to see the crypt and cemetery.
