Excellent temple complex with many deities and Mansa devi is the main one. The cable car operators tried to force us to buy round tickets to both hill shrines
Mansa & Chandi or else for only Mansa we have to wait long time. We didn't fall for it and finished darshan in normal time.

I visited the place with my boyfriend when we went to Haridwar on our way back from Kedarkantha Trek. I had heard a lot about this place from my mother and wanted to get a darshan and get some prasad for our parents. But the mistake we made was instead of following the conventional way of the ropeway we decided to travel with our rented scooty up the slope. This was indeed a very bad experience for us because not only was the climb very steep we met uncountable scammers at every corner of the road. Young ladies and kids selling prasad literally surrounded us and ran after our scooty. At one point we were scared some of them might fall infront of our vehicle and put the blame on us. Not only that, some local boys even sent us in the wrong way when we asked them the direction so that we land into another scam. When we realised that we were in the wrong way we decided to stop and ask someone else about the correct way. But people agreed to help only if we buy prasad from their stall. Finally we did buy prasad from them just to save ourselves from getting lost and later found out that the coconuts provided in the prasad were fully rotten. The good part was we were finally shown the correct route. We even found that normal pedestrians were sent this wrong way so that they either buy prasad from those shops or rent out a ride from the bikers waiting there offering ride up to two to three people till the temple at very high prices. It broke my heart to see so much scam going on in a religious place where people go to get some mental peace.
The best way to avoid this is....use the ropeway and avoid taking this route itself. Inside the temple it was little crowded....though not too much......might appear a little risky during covid times. In normal times this much crowd is fine. But the rude way one purohit treated a poor man when he asked for some bibhuti by giving a rupee was disgusting. I thought of calling the man back and getting the bibhuti for him paying the right money but I myself carry minimal cash with me and that also most of the cash were paid to the scammers outside the temple so I could not do that. We had a proper darshan of the goddess and asked for her blessings. We even tied the knot around the tree as was the custom mentioned by my mother asking for our desires. Aesthetic wise I loved the place but the feeling of the scams going down was indeed heart-breaking. I would love to go back there but probably would not carry any cash with me except some little which I would offer to the Goddess.

Mansa devi temple is located on the Bilva parvat of Shivalika hills in the holy city of Haridwar in the state of Uttarakhand. It is dedicated to the Shakti in the form of Mansa. It is believed that she emerged from the mind of Shiva and is regarded as sister of Nagraj Vasuki. Mansa means wish and hence Mansa devi is believed to be fulfilling wishes of sincere devotees. Goddess Mansa is offered coconuts, fruits, garlands and incense sticks for prayer. These are available all the way to the temple and costs 50 INR. We used cable car and it cost us INR 122 for return ticket. It is considered as a siddha peeth and one of panch tirths in Haridwar. We had easy darshan to the temple and excellent darshan due to very less people.

Offers an OK view of Haridwar city along with Har Ki Paudi, The approach road is full of filth and touts all over selling over priced prasad items. Can be done away with if you are not a temple person.

Is there any facility to book online in advance rope way ticket😊?
Anant D
Chandigarh, India50 contributions
No there is not facility to pre-book tickets. Usually tickets are not that much problem, Issue is with getting the rope way. In one Cart only 6 members can be accommodated. So there is long wait after you get tickets. My suggestion would be to walk uphill. Its not that steep, only initial stairs are steep if you come from Kotwali. If you come from Har ki pauri, you will need to take stairs all the way up and is steep. So start your journey from Kotwali road.

Sorry if I seem to repeat any questions but
1. How long is the queue to buy tickets for both temples?time taken to purchase
2. How about the queue for cable car?
3. The time taken to reach the mandir?
Thanks

Queue for Ropeway is quite long (upto 2 hours) for normal mansa devi Rs.70 to and fro (down) fare, even the both mansa & chandi devi ticket has almost same queue. Now a days they have 6 places in India ticket for about Rs.600 per person, with time to visit all this 6 places with in an year.
Some local agents have tickets for both temple in advance and may give for Rs. 300 (costing about Rs.160), else one can go by car too, but one must be able to drive in hilly road with steep climb.

Hi- I am planning to visit Mansa and Chandi Devi Temple. I came to know that combined tickets are available for the ropeway. Can you let me know how long will it take to visit both the temples and if I take combined tickets, is there any common place from where I need to take cable car for visiting both these temples.

Ernakulam, India2,392 contributions
Yes you can save combined tickets to save money and to save time for a second queue. The temples are at two different places some 45 minutes apart. what you are going to save is time in the queue at the second place; so certainly worth it.

Can't book online tickets for the ropeway. you will easily get the same at the temple. it will be an off season during Feb and so needn't worry about the lines.

you can go by road, but it climbing on hill and long way. if you like adventure and have much time then can go by road. other better way is rope way. take ticket and go by rope way, the office of rope way is very near to Har Ki Pori, just 5-7 minute . Very good palace to go. you must go and visit there.
