We stayed on the beach at the Hodi Hodi resort and the sunrises were beautiful. That being said, this is definitely not the nicest beach on the island. For one, nothing is manicured and there was a incredibly large amount of seaweed everywhere. At low...More

The beach is beautiful....the tide goes out A LONG way....sadly when the tide comes in it deposits rubbish like plastic bottles. The authorities are quick to keep it nice though!

What a beach! Stretches for what seems like an eternity in both directions. The sand is almost too white ... the sea is warm and listening to the surf break on the nearby reef is very relaxing. There are quite a lot of sea urchins...More

Beautiful beach with soft white sand, great for long walks; there are some good restaurants to have nice meals

White sand, beautiful water and lovely and quiet. Very few tourists around. Easy access to the best reefs on the island. Plenty of good restaurants around. Would come here again.

This beach has clear water and white soft sand that stretches far away...it is absolutely gorgeous and you have also the choice to do some "coral tours" to see beautiful corals with locals when the tide is low. Wonderful place to be and the people...More

This beach is amazing - the water is warm, the weather was great, when it is low tide you can walk very far into the water.

The low/high tide make it impossible to have a real swim but I guess that it is true for most of Zanzibar

You can hire a guide & special shoes at the hotel and walk out among the sea urchins to the reef. Swimming only when the tide is in I would say.

1 trip from Stone Town to Matemwe can cost up to 45 USD (the usual rule is 1 USD per km). 1 full day with your own rented car costs 30-35 USD depending on the season. I rented my 4WD from Kibabu cars and it was one of the... More
