Forget Bondi, tourist trap, find the 245 bus from Wynyard station to visit the most family friendly beach in Sydney.

Beautiful Balmoral, my father grew up here and as kids we swam in the Spit swimming club at Balmoral bars which is now a restaurant. Timeless beauty a wonderful stroll down memory lane!

Parking aside, this is a great day out. Kids will love it. Safe for grandkids as on the harbour so no waves. BBQs and nearby cafes.

Balmoral beach what can I say about this fantastic beach it's like a movie set ideal for a long relaxing day with plenty of places to eat from a fantastic fish and chip shop to more up market restaurants to small cafes

Balmoral feels like you are at an uncorked European beach, so pretty plus there are wonderful restaurants to visit, a great fish and chip shop, and lovely walk along the Esplanade

suggest you widen your area to stay ..there are number of places to stay close by to consider as manly with easy access by ferry to city and attractions ..check out the real estates in the area..hope this helps
