Mt Iron is deceptive, looks easy but if you're unfit like me, it can take a few stops to get to the top. My grandchildren had no problem - apart from impatience, and my daughter in law RUNS up and down it at least once...More
We’ve walked mount iron many times at various times of the day and year. Early morning is really the best time to enjoy the circular track with fewest people around. Views from the top are spectacular considering it is so close to town
Very nice short walk with a bit of climbing to bump up the heart rate. Take it easy or use it as a decent workout. Nice view is a bonus.
I recommend completing the round circuit and coming back to road level opposite Puzzling World...More
Not for the feint hearted and you must go on a clear day but we’ll worth the effort. You can go up and down on different sides which I would recommend as you get a totally different perspective. A great walk.
Great to get out and stretch the legs, quite steep in some places. Would be careful if quite wet as were a few slippery parts. A lot of people walking up with dogs as well. View at the top well worth it!

Hi, As in the previous answer - go out of Wanaka and park up on the left hand side of the road - no problems re parking. Go through the gate which is marked - towards the signed trail. You can go up one side and down the other. Takes approximately an hour to do the round trip. Lovely views of Wanaka at the summit.
