Fairly short walk for views out over Wanaka. Well marked paths and parking at the start make it popular with walkers and runners. The track is a loop, best to do the steepest part first then come down the back of it. Clocked it at...More

They claim the hike is an hour and a half round trip. But if you are in reasonable shape, you can do it faster. In fact, quite a few runners use it to train. We must have seen a half dozen runners or more. But,...More

Need to be moderately fit for this track. Great views from top. Went in Autumn so saw the changing of leaves and also the airshow from a great height.

We enjoyed this climb very much but would have appreciated knowing which way was the best way to attack this trig. We parked at a marked lot and saw just one sign pointing to the trail. Alas, it was the direction normally taken by those...More

This hike is a short drive from the downtown Wanaka and is worth the trek. It was an extraordinarily warm day when we did it, so it seemed more challenging than it actually was. We saw many para-gliders soaring above us and loved the views...More

Short drive from town. Car park can get busy. Not really a hike more a walk having said that some sections are steep just take your time. Good views once at the top.

Short walkup a hill. Has great views from the top and close to the township. Have done it many times.

Very easy walk up to a view point overlooking Wanaka. It's not really a hike by NZ standards. Good for kids and those who prefer an easy hike. You won't need hiking gear or water to do this one.

I’ve begun jogging up Mount Iron every other day and while it is a struggle the view makes you forget the ache in your thighs and the burn in your calves as you jog up to the summit. It’s also super fun to run down.
