The square is okay but not a must-see. The square appears to be used primarily for a car park, which you must pay for. Bordered on both sides by several cafes and restaurants.

Picturesque place, it was on our route to the old castle. The monument in the center was erected in testimony of terminated plague epidemic.

Be sure and view the impressive plague pillar located in the Holy Trinity Square on your visit to Banska Stiavnica. The square is small but conveniently located close to most of historical sites you'll want to see during your visit.

Authentic historic feeling guaranteed thanks to the dominant pillar. One of the highlights of the old mining stronghold of upper Austro-Hungarian empire. Admirable from the caffes/restaurants on the sides.

Banska Stiavnica is really a hidden gem in Slovakia, charming, peacefull. Highly recomended !!! The best site is Kalvaria, it is not difficult to go upstairs.

Every building on this square has it's history. Fortunately, the square is not transformed into restaurants or souvenirs only place. Still you can enjoy the mediaeval atmosphere along with fascinating nature all around.

For all the hype about this being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, I did not see what separated this town square from the many others you can find in Slovakia.

These people were sure hit hard by the black plague and those who survived were sure great full to God. Same artist that did plague pillar in Kremnica, SK did this one. Very narrow square. Homes to sides of square have entrances into mine shafts...More
