This is something which cannot be seen in other countries, despite the lack of clear evidences who made the rock carvings, they are amazing and breathtaking. definitely worth to be visited and to be presented. the place has a lot of history

Madara rider is a part of many other things,which can you see in this complex. If you want to see the rider clearly,it is better to visit this place in the afternoon. It is quite interesting (but much more interesting is f.ex. Decebal statue carved...More

Significant monumental complex from the First Bulgarian Kingdom. Along with the fortress it forms a remarkable complex that must be seen if you are in the area.

How did they do this carving in the middle of the stone mountain...remains a mystery. Worth coming to the site...need to climb up 200 steps to get there...so be prepared. Go to this and the Communist site in Shumen to get a great contrast.

This is a nice place to view and to walk. We climbed all the stairs in order to have a nice panorama and see the old fortress.

Not in the city but some distance from the centre. If you have time to spare you can visit but not worth for tight scheduled visits. The area is beautiful but the barely visible thing itself is a shape carved upon a stone but nothing...More

This is a place with many faces. There is ancient pagan temple, caves, cave church, a sequoia tree planted from the last Bulgarian tsar in 1937, a horseman engraved in the rocks from 1200 years ago and a solid castle in the sky. For me...More
