What an incredible water park! On my recent visit to Guatemala, my MIL booked us all a stay at Irtra, where we got to visit all three parks. Xocomil was, by far, my favorite park. The prices, first of all, are very affordable. We paid 100Q per person, which is roughly $13 USD.

When you enter, they give you a sandwich bag. This sandwich bag is for you to put your mask in while you go down waterslides. Yes, they are extremely strict about mask wearing in the park. I appreciated it and actually it worked quite well. My mask was never wet.

My favorite is the lazy river, which is a proper lazy river. We never had any issues finding a floatie and I think I went to the lazy river at least 3 separate times. The water slides were a lot of fun and all very well maintained. Lining up was quick and they are super efficient about how they send people down.

I'm not sure if it's because it's still a pandemic or what, but it wasn't as full as I expected it to be and we barely waiting for anything.

Went here for a day trip out of Quetzal. Really easy to get to via chicken bus, and they drop you off in front. This is better than any park ive been to in the states. So many awesome rides, and very little lines. The jaguar ride is crazy! You go into a little pod standing up, and then the floor drops and you are shot out like a cannon. Almost backed out, but so glad I didn't! All the other rides were so much fun too! Such a cool water park. The lines for the chicken place were longer than any line for the food, never got to try it, but judging from the lines it must have been amazing! The park is a 100Q, which is less than $15. Parking at ones in the states costs more than that!

This was totally what we needed after travelling Guate and Mexico! nothing but laughs and fun. This place is really amazing for the whole family or people of all ages. The rides are cool, we didnt have to wait longer than 3 mins for a ride, may differ in the weekend though we went on a Thursday. There are food places around ( although they almost seel exactly the same food) But hey we were there for swimming! if i could critque one thing it would be that there is really no where to just hang and swim, there are places to chill out in the water but its only up to your ankles, the deepest pools are those at the end of the rides where you really cant hang around and swim in, the other area deep enough to swim around in, is fulled with water tubes. Thats not a complaint just an observation. We thoroughly enjoyed our day here and ALL the rides. Would deff recommend this water park.

If you are looking for a destination vacation that is outside the U.S. than this is the place. This is an amazing park. My kids (14, 12, 10, 1 1/2) all had a great time. The amusement park next door is another wonderful visit. IRTRA has a resort across the street with lodging to fit all budgets. You could actually never leave the resort and have a great time. A must see for adventurous families.

My family and I visited this place late July. We had heard nothing but great things about it. Upon arrival we bought our admission tickets and rented a locker. It was then that we realized that we had left some items in our car. We went to our car to retrieve those items but upon our return were told by security that we had to purchase new tickets for everyone reentering the park. This is a total ripoff. Very greedy organization with no care for guests.

Will never visit again.

A friend of mine invited myself and my niece to go, and so we went. However, because she doesn't know how to swim, she doesn't have a swimsuit; she always went to the beach with a tanktop and a pair of shorts. Unfortunately, even if one is using a swimsuit, you can't go on the rides with a tanktop and shorts (swimsuits ONLY!). Fortunately, they conveniently sell swimsuits at the park for a price far away from the entrance. My friend had to go from the attraction where we were all the way back to the lockers (for money) and come back to the store so we could buy her a swimsuit. It was a good 15-20 minute walk each way; so rather than take up more time after buying the suit, he put the change in a plastic bag and put it in his pocket. Although the "ride" was a quiet tube float, the bag managed to escape his pocket; so, we were out even more money. There were very few food options in the park, but fortunately we brought our own food. Most rides didn't have long lines. Make sure you bring flip flops, sandals, or some sort of shoe that it is easy to slip in and out of.

Besides the swimsuit debacle, we enjoyed ourselves very much. If you want pictures, bring a waterproof camera, but still be prepared for someone to sit out on the fun because many of the attractions won't let you on with anything besides your swimsuit!

We hadn't heard of this place until we were in Quetzaltenango and on recommendations got a chicken bus there (1hr15, drops you right at the gate). We arrived just after opening time (9.30) and the place was so quiet that we could walk straight onto the rides without having to ever queue until about 11am when it started getting a little busier, even then the max queue was about 5 mins.

The rides are awesome, very imaginative and some of them had plenty of fear factor; equally, there are huge areas great for kids of all ages, with wave machines and rapids and mini water slides.

The park itself is well set up with lockers and showers and fastfood eateries, which were OK, but you're also allowed to bring food into the park yourself. For 'internationals', it's 100 quetzales for the day including all the rides.

Highly recommended!

I visited Xocomil with my 7 yr old daughter in March 2011 and loved it! The park is very very clean, well laid out and beautifully themed. There were plenty of life guards. The food was delicious and inexpensive. No bugs or mosquitos to speak of. If you like water parks I highly recommend this one. We stayed at Palajonoj, the IRTRA hotel next door, and it was also beautiful, clean and had a marvelous swimming pool with waterfalls, waterslides and really yummy poolside drinks and food. The little train that runs from the hotel to Xocomil and the neighboring amusement park, Xetulul, was also great fun. We also visited Xetulul which is also clean and themed a bit like Epcot. However most of the park doesn't open until late Friday afternoon and the rides that were open we could not ride on due to the height restrictions. My daughter was too tall for the kiddie rides and too short for anything else! Also, unlike Xocomil, park admission at Xetulul does not include any rides. You have to buy a separate bracelet or individual tickets for each ride. It can be hard to make reservations with IRTRA and they need to be made well in advance. I would strongly suggest using a Guatemalan reservation agent such as Nancy Hoffman's Guatemalan Reservations in Antigua. You will need some basic Spanish to navigate the parks as not too many staff speak english.

Xocomil is a water game park. This is a great place to enjoy with family, specially if you bring your children. The place is safe. There are many life guards that are caring about people. Children MUST use a life vest and be at every moment under adult supervision. The park has a very nice design, with many huge toboggans and a lot of water.
