We did this hike on a nice sunny Thurs., 9/14/17. After the drive from El Portal and stops at Olmstead Point and the Tuolumne Visitors Center we parked off the shoulder of Tioga Road near the port-a-pots by the trail head at about 1030. There...More

This is a fairly long hike to get to this lake. For me, if i wanted to do a day hike in Tuolumne meadows, I would just hike up and back on the john muir trail up the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River -...More

Me and girlfriend hike the cathedral lake trail in October. It about 7 miles return hike mostly up and down hill! It's definitely well worth the hike when you get there! Breathtaking view! The only downside we thought that's is hard to find the start...More

The hike up to Cathedral Lakes is about 8 miles round trip with 1000 ft of elevation change so it's "quite a hike" but when you finally get to the Lake it is well worth it. The granite that surrounds the lake is very impressive...More

We spent 2 nights backpacking at upper Cathedral Lake with our 2 daughters, ages 13 and 9. The trail was a welcome break away from the massive crowds in the Valley. The stars at night were amazing and the lake is beautiful, especially early in...More

worth the hike (it is quite long and difficult in places). Upper lake is smaller but quite different and also beautiful, so if you're up there do both. The downside of this hike is you don't wee much until you actually get there and then...More
