Absolutely wonderful scenery with typical American organisation. Approximately 5 hours drive from San Francisco a definite must see

Was advised by our hotel to enter via highway 140 as 120 was impossible without 4x4 and chains. The park was basically shut down with only a few places open. We still managed a couple of hikes and laughed at other visitors totally under dressed...More

There is no doubt that Yosemite Valley is a sensational place to visit ; nature is stunningly beautiful and awe-inspiring. There are great hikes, both for children and for adventurous serious trekkers. The roads and facilities are splendid. You are, of course, not the only...More

This park is full of places to explore, giant sequoa trees and waterfalls. Trails that make it worth the climb. I would love to go again.

Sunset and sunrise are probably the best times to be in Yosemite National Park. The colours are brilliantly resplendent and very therapeutic.

I had a great time riding my MTN bike in the park. Lots of trails custom made for a bike rider like myself. Go to Half Dome? North dome? anywhere you can look on the bike. I thought that the ark was gorgeous in the...More

We visited Yosemite and drove through the park in November. There were so many amazing sites to take in. Wish we could have spent more time. We used the 4th graders in the park free pass to attend many parks and this one was one...More

Since 1970's I have been to Yosemite many times, and it is a whole new experience every time I go there. I have arrived from Fresno (Hwy 149), from Tioga Pass, from Merced (Hwy 120) and each of these roads have a different wonderful something...More

No matter how much we say it will be less. This park is beautiful all the season. You would need to plan well in advance because the lodge within the park are booked for a year or so. Stay hydrated and drive safe. The wildlife...More

My partner and I are visiting Yosemite at the end of April for 2 days. Staying at Yosemite View lodge, we are visiting from New Zealand so don’t have any experience in US national parks. We are mid 20s and fit and plan to spend those 2 days doing as much walking as possible. My question is what is the best way to get around if we have a short time frame and want to explore lots? We plan to get the Amtrak to Merced, then fly out of Fresno. Are we best to book a rental car? If there is light snow will we still be fine to drive from Yosemite View lodge to Yosemite Valley? Would a 4WD vehicle be recommended over a compact 2WD during late April? I notice the Yarts bus to Fresno doesn’t run in April. Lastly, for walks such as vernal falls, cooks meadow, valley floor- do we need tramping boots or would running sneakers be enough?

Gemma, Highly recommend staying in park. You will pay a little more for food and accommodation but no travel time each day. There is a fantastic bus service in the park so you can park your car and forget it until you leave... More
