- Sarah OMexico, Missouri65 contributionsGet close to these falls. This was an enjoyable walk through the trees. The walk doesn’t take to long and there are a lot of people. In the spring, the falls were pretty full. We went off the beaten path to get close to the waterfall and to feel the most. I would highly recommend that.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 April 2023
- EdwardSanta Rosa, California1,953 contributionsMagnificent Waterfall with Wonderful Hike and Great ViewsYosemite Falls is a lovely and long waterfall. One can see it from the valley floor on the Lower Yosemite Falls trail, a gentle walk at the base, but there is also a great hike up to the top of Yosemite Falls, the Yosemite Falls trail. It provides great views and lots of exercise because it includes long stretches of uphill hiking. The trail is good and mostly easy aside from the uphill climb. It can get crowded, though, but there are also great views just partway up, such as at Columbia Rock. Bring water and allow plenty of time if you want to do the whole thing. Otherwise, you can get a good experience just part way up or even just seeing it from the base in the paved walking area near parking and restrooms.Visited November 2022Written 19 May 2023

A word of caution, driving up the mountain just to get gif park entrance is a bit daunting. I’ve never driven such narrow hairpin turns in my life. Drive very carefully. The way down is a bit easier as your on the inside lane, next to the mountain. Use those peripherals real well. And make a stop at Chinese Camp. I was able to sang my first gold nugget and Richard, owner of the shop who runs it with his family, is a plethora knowledge about gold in the area and knows everyone and everything around it.Visited July 2023Travelled soloWritten 30 June 2023
- WaddlerYork, United Kingdom10,071 contributionsAugust treatWhen I booked an August trip I wasn't expecting to see Yosemite falls as they are typically dry by then, but record 2023 winter snow meant the falls were still in flow and I was lucky enough to have the flow boosted by rain from Storm Hilary. There are many ways of experiencing the falls - you can see them from short flat trails at Cooks Meadow or from Swinging Bridge, or get a closer view of the lower falls on the Lower Yosemite Falls trail. You can see them from distance across the valley from Glacier Point, Taft Point, Panorama Point etc. You can of course do the challening Upper Yosemite Falls trail - if the whole trail isn't on your agenda then you can walk just over an hour up the trail (15-20 mins beyond Columbia Rock) to get a good view of the upper falls with Half Dome behind. Whichever way, these are an impressive set of high falls when in good flow. We were lucky to see what we saw in August.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 September 2023

Breathtaking! Never been so close to one. Be prepared for wind and water. It was packed with visitors. So much fun! Stay there for a while in the bridge

Yosemite Falls are beautiful. They are composed of the Upper Yosemite Fall and the Lower Yosemite Fall. The hike to the lower fall is relatively easy. Hiking the upper fall is very challenging. We were in awe looking at these falls. This is one of the must see sights in Yosemite.

This year after the rain fall and snow pack the falls are running heavy which makes for some awesome sights around the park. You can hear and feel the power of the flow. Just amazing

We visited on May 16, with amazing waterfalls, spectacular! It’s quite easy to walk to the lowest falls to be able to see all 3 sections, lovely!

We didn't do the hike having done Vernal and Nevada Falls. From the valley floor and in the fall season, there is nothing more than evidence of there being a waterfall.
I imagine in the spring and early summer with the snow melt that it is a sight to behold.

We are coming in April and staying at Yosemite Valley Lodge. Are there shuttle busses that go through the park or tours? I can’t do a lot of walking. If not, is it easy to drive through? We’re were coming for four days but is that too long considering we won’t be hiking?

Too late now, but next time you travel I suggest using the active travel forum. Few people look at this Q&A feature.
We could have shared the shuttle map, told you where to park, and suggested gentle walks.

Stay at the Yosemite View Lodge just outside the park in El Portal.
When you go into the valley, park as close to, but NOT PAST, the Yosemite Valley Chapel. If you go past, the roads get jammed up. and it is about a 10 minute walk to the Visitor center.

My dad and I are visiting Yosemite next May. He has a bad hip so he can't walk too much. Are you able to see the lower and upper Yosemite falls without doing the hike?

The lower falls is a short walk to the viewing area. He should have no problem with that. I think you have to hike to the top of the falls for the "upper," which would be too much. Park your car and take advantage of the bus shuttles. They are free and take you to all the major sights. Enjoy!

Are the Falls dried up yet? Webcam for Yosemite falls not working, so didn't know if it was completely dry. Heading there in a week, and want to know if worth walking to see.
