just a few minutes drive below the Glacier point, you will reach this point before reaching the Glacier point, and I already being attracted by the view here and took tons of pictures already, for this point, you can see the view of half dome, Vernal fall and Nevada fall, this section are of similar view from Glacier point (but Glacier point would be a bit higher in altitude). if your camera has enough zooming power, you can see the snowy mountains which are very beautiful, and I posted some photos here to share with you about the snowy mountains view I saw. However, from Washburn point, you can't see the other side, i,e. you can't see the Yosemite falls, so you still have to drive up to Glacier point in order to have a full view of the park. Be aware that if the parking lot of the Glacier point is full, the road driving up to Glacier point (thus this Washburn point) will also be closed.

Please don't just pass this turn on the way down to Glacier Point. Almost never any crowds and a fantastic view of the waterfalls and the trail up to Half Dome.

A less busy Glacier point offering more direct views of Nevada and Vernal falls and is surrounded by impressive trees. Stunning views!!

I like to stop at Washburn Point so that I can see Illilouette Fall far to the right. This June the view was especially good as there was so much water in Illilouette Creek.
There was a Chinese family trying to get a family selfie with a great backdrop. Another visitor asked if he could help with the photo … in Chinese. The family was amazed and appreciative. I love seeing interactions like this in Yosemite National Park.

I'm not sure why there is no fanfare for Washburn Point. The view is amazing and you get a better look at Vernal and Nevada Falls from this view. Plus you can see Illilouette Falls from here. There is really no trail to walk, but there are plaques with information. Take the 10-15 to stop and soak it all in. It's amazing.

How are there no reviews on this place? This is the hidden gem of Yosemite. It has many of the same, if not better views of Glacier Point, with half the noise and crowd. Better views of the Mist Trail and Vernal/ Nevada Falls. I'd watch the sun set over the valley from here. So lovely. You could grab food from glacier point and come make an evening out of it from here. HIGHLY recommend. Stopping here made Glacier Point feel like a complete zoo.

Amazing viewpoint before reaching Glacier Point. This has got to be one of the best, if not the best viewpoint of Yosemite. The view of Half Dome, Vernal Falls, and Nevada Falls is simple spectacular and all in the same shot. Plenty of parking available and not at all crowded.

This would be a ten star rating if possible. The view was spectacular with Half Dome, Vernal Falls, and Nevada Falls all in the same shot. This viewpoint is possibly the best in all of Yosemite.

We arrive may 7 for a week. Is the Washburn trail accessible?

Hey there! Our family of 4 (including 2 teens) are heading from PA to Yosemite in July. One of our "must-do's" from all the reivews, is to leave from Yosemite Valley around 4pm on a Sunday in early July and drive up to Glacier Point for sunset. Couple of questions:
Is there a parking lot at Washburn Point?
Is Glacier Point Road 2-way?
Would it make sense to leave from Yosemite Valley around 4pm to stop at Taft Point (and do the 2-mile walk), then take lots of pictures at Glacier Point, then head back down the road about 0.7 miles and park at Washburn Point? (My goal is see the sunset from Washburn Point(8:23pm) rather than at Glacier Point with all the crowds.
Does this seem like a good plan? I just know that it will crazy-crowded there and I'm wondering if I'm allowing enough time to do all that since I've heard the wait to get in line to head up there is REALLY long???
Thanks!
Sharon C.
