When I was at the visitors center, I asked the ranger about Beehive Geyser and was informed it only erupts once a day. And that had already happened at 4am that morning. Still it was neat to see the unique structure that has built up around the geyser. It does look like a beehive, just a lot bigger. There are also nice views of Old Faithful from right next to it (bench at the corner of the walkway).

This was one of the very interesting geysers around Yellowstone NP. We visited most of the geysers and each one had a very interesting geothermal feature. This one is shaped like a mound as the silicates from the eruptions get deposited on it.

Beehive only erupts once or twice a day and is very unpredictable. The rangers have an idea when it is getting ready to erupt because it fills up with water and they will make an announcement. We were fortunate to have just arrived at the visitor's center when they made an announcement that it could erupt within the next 30 minutes. Well, it did and it was more spectacular than Old Faithful. So glad we got to see it erupt.

This geyser is pretty neat. It erupts about once a day but is unpredictable. I saw it erupt twice in 2 days. Once I was in the Visitor Center and the other time I heard a ranger yell to anyone that could hear that it was about to erupt. They only have a few minutes of warning.

The beehive geyser looks like a rock formation. It doesn’t erupt very often but it’s still cool to see. There are many other geysers in the area to look at too

This is ok, I didn't get to see this ever go off, but it is on one of the trails. May want to check to see how often it goes off.

Apparently when this one erupts, it gets really high. However, it erupts infrequently, so any other time it just looks like a little bump of a geyser.

It was incredible. If you are there when it goes off, you won't forget it...though, I guess it only goes off every 8 - 24 hours.
And the water is not hot - two of our kids get drenched by the 200 foot spray.
If you go see Old Faithful, then go to the upper area and hope that the Beehive will go off!

This was actually very cool and worth the walk. The times are posted when to expect it to do its thing. There is a trail so this is wheelchair accessible.

I haven't seen this one erupt, but it is still worth seeing if you are in the area. It got the name because it buzzes like bees. Just a short walk in the Old Faithful area.
