The Gibbon Falls are right on the Grand Loop Road and has a large parking lot. There is an upper viewing deck where most people take their photos, but if you head a couple hundred feet further down, towards the lower viewing deck, there is an even better view point and most people don’t go beyond the upper deck. I got some great photos there and didn’t have to deal with getting other people in my photos and even managed to snap a quick selfie. Worth a stop.

Gibbon Falls is on the Gibbon River. the Gibbon River was named for Colonel John Gibbon who participated in the 1872 Hayden geological Survey of the park. The Gibbon rises at Grebe Lake in Yellowstone and flows to Madison Junction where it merges with the Firehole River to form the Madison River. Below the falls is a scenic canyon.

A stop along one of the roads, it is a very short, easy walk to view the falls. Not the falls at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, but waterfalls in general are an attraction and this takes almost no effort to view.

This is kind of a small congested area but you can get a good look at the falls if you patiently wait your turn for parking and at the overlook.

There are several viewpoints of the 84-foot Gibbon Falls, located between Madison and Norris on the Grand Loop Road in Yellowstone National Park, I thought this waterfall was absolutely beautiful! The viewpoints are easily accessible on a nice sidewalk and the parking lot is pretty big. You can walk up to 1000 feet, enjoying the varied views in between. Highly recommended on your trip to Yellowstone!

Gibbon Falls is a quick pull out and an easy cement trail to see a different type of waterfall as you can see by photos this is a very wide and shorter waterfall than most of the other ones in the park. It’s a good place to stop for as long as you want or as short as you want and is the accessible for.

Gibbon Falls is a waterfall on the Gibbon River in the northwestern section of Yellowstone National Park. My wife and I stopped here during our visit to Yellowstone NP in mid-September 2022.

The falls are viewable from a roadside pullout right off the Grand Loop Road. After a short 400 ft/122 m walk along a wheelchair accessible path, you will have an excellent view of the falls as it drops approximately 84 ft/25 m.

There are so many beautiful things to see at Yellowstone NP; the nice thing about Gibbon Falls is that it will not take much time out of your busy sightseeing day to take it in.

Plenty of parking and just a short walk to get great views of the falls. Well worth adding to your list of sights to see in YNP.

Gibbon falls was great to view at the roadside pullout, but WE parked at the picnic area down the road and walked up along the river to the base of the falls and THAT was spectacular. Had to cross the river at one point but well worth it.

I personally liked the Kepler Falls pullout and view better, but this one is a nice stop too. A short walk to view the falls.
