The Lost Lake Loop is a 2.8 mi/4.6 km moderately-rated hike. The trail starts from Roosevelt Lodge, climbs up a hill to Lost Lake and the Petrified Forest parking area, and descends down to the lodge. My husband and I did this hike on a...More

Went here on a Tuesday and it was a great hike! We started out from the petrified tree and hiked to the lake. We almost turned back but didn't see any wildlife yet. So we kept going to the T junction in front of the...More

This trail can be very steep if you do it in a counterclockwise direction so I do it clockwise from the Roosevelt lodge dining room trailhead. It passes quite close to the most accessible of all of Yellowstone's petrified trees and goes through country missed...More

This is a really nice hike, slightly strenous at the beginning (ascent of a pretty steep slope in the woods), followed by an even trail alongside Lost Lake - a wonderful place where you're almost all alone, the only people we encountered where three horse...More

Decent hike leaving from the lodge. Uphill for the first bit, then a nice walk along the lake and through "meadow". Terrible signage. When you get to the petrified tree, keep RIGHT on the trail and go UP -- don't go left.

Beautiful walk. Difficult with all the tall steps (hard on the knees) and elevation but beautiful while you walk and when you arrive. The smoke from forest fires made it hazy but the lake was till beautiful

This is a must do hike in the park. Beware of bear and bison on this trail. It is well worth the hike!

Lost Lake Trail on the Grand Loop Road was a good hiking trail. Enjoyed by teens and parents. Stop when in the area.
