This Museum is just up the road from Norris Basin, near the campground. It is in a refurbished that has several rooms set out with various displays, including a. Ack country cabin and soldiers barrack. It presents a fascinating history of the NP Rangers from the army days through to today. It has a small auditorium with short films that... More

The Norris area was closed due to be overfilled when we were going by so we went to the Museum of the National Park Ranger to take a break and visit with hopes that when we turned around and went back, Norris would be open. We spent maybe 30 minutes at the museum. We overheard a park ranger tell a... More

This is a small and nice museum dedicated to the park rangers. You can never learn to much history. The kids enjoyed it and it was time for a break. It all worked out well.

Came about this by accident as we were driving through this area. Stopped in and was respectfully educated on the historical life of a Ranger in a replicated cabin. Video was informative also.

The entire National Park Service celebrates it's centennial this year. Most people know Yellowstone is older than the Park service and some appreciate the wonderful strides the United States Army did in protecting the park and educating it's visitors before there were Park Rangers. But what is even less known is that there were naturalists and interpreters in Yellowstone from... More

Worth a trip to stop in. Had a wonderful ranger who spoke with us and there is a great movie about the early years of Yellowstone. The museum had a lot of memorabilia going back to the days of the calvary. There are two mocked rooms simulating the stark living quarters back in the early days. Excellent lesson in the... More

We actually sought this museum out because we have a friend who recently retired as a Park Ranger in DC. This little museum is great mainly because it is staffed by volunteer retired rangers! So not only did I learn about Yellowstone, I also learned about the other parks the ranger had worked at. The museum is small but packed... More

The little Park Ranger Museum is packed with neat exhibits about the National Park Ranger Service as weel as some applying only to Yellowstone. Also a 30 minutes "movie" about the history of the Park service. And a real live huge buffalo resting in the meadow just outside past the parking. What more could you ask for!
