We looked at two paint pots here; one with small bubbles boiling in a thin light grey mud, and the other with a roaring gush of force in a thick red clay mud. We really enjoyed these. They were accessible vis a 0.3 mike walk...More

The colours around this geyser are pleasing to the eye , a collage of multi blends the photographer loves.

It was really fun to watch and hear the “glub, glub” of the mud as it boiled and bubbled. We compared it to a pot of grits cooking on the stove-it didn’t smell the same though. We were told that it would get thicker as...More

I was visiting with a nature group, and this geological feature was fascinating to see - and smell! - and beautiful in the thick snow surrounding it.

I really enjoyed this little thermal area. It's got a short boardwalk and cool thermal features plus expansive views of the surrounding area.

This area is in the Lower Geyser Basin. In addition to the colorful, boiling mud paint pot, there are lots of other geothermal features to see. There is a circle of boardwalks that goes amongst geysers, colorful springs (some of them reminded me of overhead...More

Some of pools get their color from the water and others from the surrounding soil. It makes for interesting set of pools and geysers to walk around. The walk around this area is quite easy.
