One of my favorite stops in Yellowstone was the Mud Volcano area and Dragon's Mouth Springs. This unique spring comes out of a cliff. First a puff of smoke then a wave of water. very cool. Also in this area are the Mud Volcanoes the smelliest of all the features we saw. Like severely rotten eggs is a good way to describe the odor

This is a very unusual spring that makes loud noises. It is probably the highlight of the "Mud Volcano" thermal area and I'm glad that, just by chance, I saved it for last!!

Dragon Mouth Spring is one of the thermal features at Yellowstone you hear before you see it. You also smell it on the way up the boardwalk. The spring roars out of the hole in the rock in a blast of sulfurous steam. A ranger happened to be standing by and answered some of my questions about it including showing me how part of the rock actually broke off the rim in the past few months. This is a great stop as part of the Mud Volcano area.

This is one of the drive bys that people don't stop at but it is worth stopping and seeing what is there. The Sulphur smell will clear your sinuses if nothing else. Other mud volcanos in the area too.

The Dragon Mouth Spring continuously bubbles up with hot water and steam, pushing out a potent sulphur smell. The boardwalk allows visitors to get fairly close to this natural wonder.

Right by the mud volcano, this spring is unique because not only does steam rise out of it, it roars like a dragon. So cool!

A very unique area. There is the typical pool of bubbling water, but then there is also smoke that seems to rise out of a cave. It really does look like a dragon's lair. It is in the same area as Mud Volcano.
