Castle Geyser has a huge volcano like cone, very different from the other Upper Basin geysers, even Old Faithful. It is said to be very old so accumulated a lot of material around it. Erupts a couple times in 24hrs (we didn't see an actual eruption) but interesting even without an eruption.

This was also my son’s favorite geyser. He’s 10. This one didn’t seem to be as predictable. The one time it went off 30 minutes early and next time we viewed it, it was 20 minutes late. The eruption lasts very long so even if you are a bit late you can still see it. The one time it lasted about 30 minutes. It launched very high into the air and would rush down the side creating a small waterfall. Definitely worth trying to see!!

I enjoy the entire geyser scene in Yellowstone; however, it was interesting to me that Castle Geyser was my son's favorite. Definitely see it for it captures one's imaginations.

This geyser is right near the trail and very active. It's a great place to get pictures from multiple angles!

Castle Geyser, which has largest siliceous sinter formed cone in the world is simply magnificent. The base on which it rests is even older .
It erupts every 14 hours for about 20 minutes with a throw of about 75 feet.
The eruption is followed by noisy steam phase for about 30-40 minutes.
It’s fun to watch the eruption of this geyser.
We could see two eruptions during our visit to old faithful.
Along with board walk from Grand geyser area , there are few benches on front road side for visitors.

We saw old Faithful go and then we were at Castle which erupted and was not as tall as old faithful but still a good blow. We were lucky with our timing.

Castle Geyser was my favorite geyser in the park. We lucked out and the geyser started erupting the minute we walked up to it. It puts on an awesome show that seems to last forever!

It’s different but there are so many different yet impressive sights at Yellowstone so this one is not worth a separate trip. Walk the upper basin as much as you can.

This is one of the many geysers in the Upper Geyser Basin. It is more prominent than most because of how far it emerges from the ground.

A regular performer and a spectacular spout going vigorously for a long time--up to an hour. Check the schedule.
