We turned in here on a whim and were very pleasantly surprised. Several geothermal features different from those we had already seen. We got out of the car to take more photos several times.

This is a designated swimming area with bathrooms across the street. Parking is tight along the street. We were there in July and the water is warm. There are wooden stairs leading down to the swimming area. To the right is a pool area. Upstream...More

This river can be quite warm. Its name indicates that too! Why is it so warm? Deep down under this place, there is magma from an active volcano that heats the water. Every minute it pours 500 gallons of hot water into the Fire Hole...More

Stopped by it on the way out and it was one of the better photo spots if you take the climbing trails. Lots of people were catching big fish too.

This is a wonderful river that flows from Madison, through the geyser basins in Yellowstone. There's many areas to stop & fish, or just watch the river. Very wild & beautiful!

I may be mistaken, but as far as I know swimming is not allowed anywhere within the park. Having last visited in February, swimming was not on my agenda anyway.
