People like me, who have never been to the Finger Lakes Region, will be impressed. Still an active railroad area. The canals are now traveled by locs, Wonderful 1800 daily life articles are on display. Really enjoyed the festive Gingerbread House Competition Display during the IAWL 70th anniversary weekend.

Seneca Falls' Museum of Waterways and Industry tells the all-too-familiar story of nearly all of Upstate New York's once-bustling villages, as seen through Seneca Falls' particular historical perspective. The exhibits have been well-researched, and documented with many historical photographs. Seneca Falls is unique for its place in women's history and equal rights movements, but it is typical in its place... More

This museum is in the town's visitor center. It explains much about the fascinating history of the Erie and other canals, which are still in use today. No admission charge, helpful staff. It has 3 floors, the lowest allows you to go out to the canal behind the building.

This was a nice museum containing the history of the area, the maps were very informative and put the area in perspective. We booked a canal boat tour through the museum, and our tour (even in the rain) was great. Very cool that we were able to go through the locks! The staff at the museum were very helpful and... More

Took so long at the Women's Rights National Park that I didn't leave adequate time to explore this little gem. I got there 15 minutes before close, and it was open late for a visitor's center, 7 p.m. It explains the history of the canal system in the region and has nice displays.
