My husband is the civil war buff and I really thought he would enjoy this much more than me but I really loved hearing the story of this battle and learning about those involved. I learned a lot about the civil war here in Missouri and how important this battle was. It was humbling to stand on the ground where... More

We stopped here on our visit to Branson, Mo. It took about one hour to drive here from Branson. The video is well done. The driving tour was scenic but the audio track lacked battlefield insights shared at other Civil War National Parks. The park ranger was great and she was eager to share facts and insights.

Have been to Springfield many times and always wanted to do this, glad we finally did. Very surreal to look out over the battlefield and imagine what happened here. We took the driving loop and didn't have much time to walk any of the trails, but still got a good idea of what happened during this battle. Its nice how... More

We learned a lot about this battle. The short movie explains much of it. Then we drove out onto the battlefield and learned more about the area and what the soldiers were facing during the battle.

Most National Park facilities seem to be holding their own despite the budget cuts of recent years. Wilson's Creek is a wonderful place to visit. The park rangers are friendly and helpful and they have a great staff of volunteers who add a lot to the experience. The battlefield grounds are quite extensive and while it would be possible to... The research library is full of books and files on the Civil War. The researchers/librarians are knowledgeable and eager to help. I left with a treasure trove of information on several ancestors who fought on both sides in the war. If you are researching ancestors who were in the Civil War, especially west of the Mississippi, this is the place... More

This is a very good History lesson of the surrounding area and of the people who gave up their lives to fight a well documented civil war battle. Only one problem has history taken a backseat to political correctness? Where is the confederate Flag? Maybe I just missed it! Please while visiting this location please ask all the employees where... More

Our experience was limited due to my inability to walk to some of the points of interest within the park/battlefield. However, we did enjoy stopping here and there and trying to visualize how and why events unfolded as they did. The rangers at the visitors center were also very helpful.

Stopped here in December to get "Geezer Passes" ($10 lifetime passes to all US National Parks). We stayed to tour the indoor exhibits, which are very well done. Exhibits include a 3D map showing how the battle progressed. They interpretive panels convey the pain of the Civil War in a place like Missouri, which did allow slavery but did not... More

Was on way home to KC from Branson over New Years and saw the sign for Wilson's Creek National Battlefield sure glad I stop. Being from east coast I know about many Civil War sites except for this one. Visitor center has nice display and 30 minute movie about the battle. Park Rangers well inform and friendly. 5 mile drive... More
