Just spoke to the security desk at the Carew Tower 513.241.3888
According to the security personnel the observation deck is closed and is most likely permanently closed.
This is very sad as it was one of the first places I took my sons when we visited and one of the best places to bring children and out of town guests.

I've been to the top of the tower to view the world from a birds eye a few times and just discovered that my mother has never had the experience so I'm hoping the viewing platform will be opening again soon

The website states to wait for information on 2021 Spring, gives a number that they do not answer or give any information, they may be closed forever. I guess it is another Covid excuse for mediocrity.

Attempted a visit but the observation deck has been closed and is closed indefinitely. Unfortunately didn’t see this information posted anywhere before we went. We did go to the I Love Cincinnati store for a couple small souvenirs.

Whenever people come to visit me, the first place I take them is to the top of Carew tower. It is one of the rare places you have open rooftop views of the entire city. You can look out across the river into Kentucky, or look north to the Over the Rhine area and take in views of the hills and river. If you have someone there to point out the sights, even better.
I love Cincinnati and blog about it often. Carew Tower is one of my must-see’s in a city full of many great attractions.

Accessed via the Netherland Plaza Hotel, this is a must see. It's free of charge for hotel guests and you can take in the views of the city day or evenings (up to 7pm) - very impressive.

The building is beautiful, love that it was a step back in time with the old post office signs and mail shoots. It would be nice if there was more signage by the elevator. Having never been there before we weren't sure where to go. Once we got up there it was pretty cool. We loved how open it was.
We were shocked they only take Cash. Really they can't get a Square app for the lady up there??? It would be nice if it was noted downstairs that it's cash only, and even where to go! We agreed that we would have been annoyed had we not had enough cash when we got to the top!

The observation deck is hard to find there's not very much signage putting you to it. Just find the elevator Banks and go up to the top floor which is 45. Then you have to jump into another elevator behind it which is a tiny elevator that only holds like three or four people and go up three more floors. Then there's one flight of stairs to walk up to 49. Admission to the deck is $6. It's basically a rooftop with some telescopes up there in each corner. No gift shop or anything like that. It's very old-fashioned. See my pictures

We missed the closing time, but are leaving town tomorrow. Is there a way to go "almost to the top" for a good view without going to the observation deck? My young daughter really wants to see the city lights

Only the observation deck is open at the top. The other floors are all offices. If you know someone in an office you can look out the window!
Can you ride the elevator multiple times?

Yes. You are only charged when you go through the door onto the roof.

It is indeed open all year round.
I don't think the hours here are correct, they close at 6pm on week days and 7pm on weekends.

No there is not another way to the top. The building gets smaller as you go up and the second elevator only holds two people and doesn't go to the observation deck.

Can you give tips on how to get up to the tower and where to park? I tried and was unsuccessful.

There is an underground garage under Fountain Square - park there. The banks of elevators are just off the main hall of the tower. The security guy can assist you with the direction, but it's quite easy. You take main elevators up to #45, then switch to a smaller elevator for final few floors. Bring binoculars.
Is it accessible?
YSFranklin

No, the tower is not easily accessible because the elevator is small and the steps to the roof are narrow.
