The visitor center is small but had all the information necessary to set the stage for the driving tour of the battlefields. The endless memorials erected by the states represented in the battle are beautiful and plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning in the park.

History Lesson made very interesting. We care as a large group and drove through the park after viewing the museum area. Very well laid out and easy to understand.

We paid for a guided tour. Our tour guide was Robert Terry. If you can, request him. His knowledge and enthusiasm was second to none.

I'd definitely recommend using your car to navigate the park, but be sure and save time for the USS Cairo exhibit. Part of the road was closed the day we were there, but it was still awesome. Visitors center has interesting exhibits.

We hired Jim Hess as our guide. He was fantastic. Answered all of our many questions - pleasant and oh so knowledgable. Fascinating exhibits in the Visitor's Center. The Park is one of a kind.

This was a pivotal battle in the Civil War. There is a lot of information and it is a beautiful park. They have done an excellent job of marking where the different units were and the displays in the visitors center explain the entire battle.

If anything, stop to see the old ironclad boat, the USS Cairo. I was in awe. Slightly disappointed in the visitor center which didn't have much of a museum that you would expect for a national park.
