Valley Forge National Historic Park is a must stop at for history loves and hikers alike. From Washington's Headquarters to the forts to the cannons, you do feel like you are transported back to another era. This is a GREAT spot for walkers, bikers and runners. Plenty of benches and picnic tables to make this a family stop. I really... More

Having grown up from a State Park, the National Park service (since taking over Valley Forge at the Bicentennial in 1976) has continually improved the grounds. Moving parking lots, improving trails and historical encampments is but a few of the loving touches the NPS has bestowed on the rolling hills of VFNP

We toured with fifteen 12 yr olds. A great 2 hour activity. They actually learned something in the visitor center. The staff are very nice and helpful. We then drove the park loop. The Muhlenberg brigade cabins were the best. It was interesting to see how the soldiers lived in 1777 (it was tough!). There were two volunteer guides dressed... More

The park gave me a much better understanding of why Washington chose this place, and why the British did not pursue the Colonial forces. The museum and related park facilities are nicely maintained and the staff helpful.

We were in Philadelphia for a couple of weeks roadschooling and wanted to get out of town for a day. Valley Forge was a great, nearby choice. We started in the Visitor Center, saw the movie, and chatted with a ranger about how to best spend our time. He recommended their audio tour since there wasn't a Ranger-led activity scheduled... Nice job of presenting the history and atmosphere, with great guides and films. Perhaps not good for less than 5 year olds, as patient listening is required.

To think that Washington and his troops spent a bitter winter here and nearly starved, makes you think how soft most of us have it today. The National Park Service does an awesome job here, bring your family and get centered again.

As someone who was visiting from outside of US, the trip gives you understanding of the US independence war. The scenes in the park were not spectacular but maybe it was due to the season and it will be better in springs / summers

We had the opportunity for a day trip visit to Valley Forge National Park in October. The tree colors were beautiful which made for some great picture taking. We completed the tour by car with a CD purchased at the visitor center. Lots of open spaces, mostly convenient parking (parking for the visitor center is located a bit of a... More
