I believe this is considered a public park and then there is also a boat dock area. If you go to the very back of the picnic areas there is a great place to swim!

Walk, hike, bike to this quiet park area and enjoy the water and views. A true pleasure to walk this area. Drawn to the area as it was so quiet and enjoyed by so many local families. Many people around having picnics and bbqs.

Magic Island (and the adjacent Ala Moana Park) is a great place to catch the sunset. It was created out of reclaimed land, and the lagoon is a safe place to swim. Coconut palms reach to the sky, monkey pod trees create shade for picnickers....More

Lots of beach - great BBQ area. Lots of parking for a minimal fee. Great views. Events regularly going on. TV events often filmed there.

Only a short distance from the crowds of the main Waikiki beaches lies ala moana recreational park. The beaches here are fantastic, there are good facilities like lifeguards, refreshments, water fountains etc. Head to magic island for sunset - unbeatable.

Just off the hustle of Waikiki beach lies a seemly private beach. We were the only ones on this beach for like an hour. Shallow and warm water with decent sand. Guess thats why they call it Magic...

Clear water, clean beach, great for adults. A good place to snorkel or swim laps. Rubbish bins all over, and thankfully visitors use them.

Mellow local spot. Decent snorkeling for a crowded island. The diving schools can get a bit annoying, because they have a hard time seeing regular swimmers ; and its no fun when they knock into you; even as you're trying to swim away

A short walk from many hotels nearby, this is nice place to relax in, plenty of places to sit and watch the sunset or the surfers. Is very popular with the locals and there is always someone getting married; but it was not overcrowded even...More

One of our favourite places in Honolulu, best place to watch the sunset, the Hilton fireworks , bbq with locals or spend the day spear fishing. Great place also for families with small kids.

No, I have not seen any barbeque grills at Magic Island park. There are picnic tables but no grills. Most people bring their own mats, chairs and find a place to set up either in the grass or near the beach. Many bring their... More
